Yeah But that was 1 year only as a special / limited model so 18's are still the most you can legally have without an engineers cert
if its factory tint yeah but not after market.. ive never heard that before and i doubt it will hold up in any pit... was there a law for the height of a car back then? or how many rim sizes about stock you can go?
Baaaaahhhh **** me... So all day today (my 20th birthday also) i spent 2 hours getting tyres fitted, dont ask me why it took so long... i then went to this frined of a friend who was supposed to help me out... did a full inspection of the car picked up on a ****ed reverse light, and couldnt see the engine number?... Where the **** is the engine number? i cant find it for the life of me... in the books it says its above the cylinder on the righ side of the engine block... anyone have any ideas.. Oh and he didnt spot the 5% tint.
Ah legend, thankya Peter. I'll check it in the morning tomorrow with some daylight. thanks again mate!
Nope Its aftermarket tint aswell. No factory tint came out that dark as far as I know? All factory tints only have a very slight tint to it. The laws came in 1994 to have a light transmittance of at least 75%, so the legal limit is 35% tinted (now). If it was before this they cant do anything as it was the law at that time, unless they can prove you put it on
hye champ, i got 265's on the back of mine, and 235's on the front, i dare say you'll have no worries, i hate defects..... i hate police academy students when they come out on a power trip!! i cop alot of that!!!!
Well it worked out okay, just when i took it to the pits they picked up on minor shit like the enginge number, reverse light (not so minor but still meh..) dvd player (which has a switch so they said they would turn the other cheek) all in all i didnt cop too much shit off them... but ofcourse after driving from one side of canberra to the other TWICE i just wasnt in the mood for anybody..
Yeah they pass it, know one of the guys at the pits where I got my car registered the first time when driving it from VIC, who told me that + window tinting mate that always gets the cops in to ask him questions about doing work, (checking up if they fit the illegal stuff) both told me the same thing about the pre / post 1994 rule / law.
track limit As well as an increase in diameter the is usually a limit on increasing the cars trach width. I think it's 1inch in QLD, .5 inches each way out and any extra has to be offset into the car.
Yeah Same in NSW as far as I remember aswell can be 2 inches more in height and an inch wider. Anything else needs an engineers cert and some insurance company's (normally the cheaper ones) wont touch you if ya outside these limits.
Ummmm... ****. So the engine number on the engine in my car is different to the one of my rego papers... The paper trail goes all the way back to 2005 when the car was bought from a dealer. any ideas whats gonna happen when i get the rego inspector writing down a different number to the one on my orignal registration... what steps do i take?
19" wheels Gents 19's are OK, i just got my roadworthy with a set of 19's. The RWC guy even checked up with Vic Roads (of course they arent overly wide just look snug in ther. Cheers
you are very wrong lol, youll find that out when a cop picks you up and nails a yellow on your windscreen the overall diameter of any replacement rims must not be more than 15mm greater than the largest diameter specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or vehicle series (vicroads guide to vehicle modifications section 7)
