[VIC] GOR cruise goes off with a HUGE bang and a record turnout

that was awesome , another good zed day ,, it was good to see a lot of people that i haven't see for a while ...... i had fun the car had fun , had no problems at all ,, I'm about to go down in the garage and change the oil , lol .. 1159k's on this new engine , another 841k's before a can thrash , but who's counting ......

it's good that everything worked out well and all the cars seemed to be healthy,,

when i got home i had the biggest migraine .....straight to bed for me ....

i didn't get any pics, but I'm sure a lot of our zederrs got heaps..

 

Thanks to Col and Kingy for organising a great cruise. Was good to meet some new people and catch up with the regulars again. Thanks also to Chrispy and Cammera for riding shotgun with me, good luck to both of you on your zed project's. I didn't get any photos but Chrispy took a few from my passenger seat.
I ended up hitting 540km just as we were coming back to the westgate and the empty light had just come on so could have got close to 600 from that tank... so yes my car is finally running mint. Never seen the trip meter go over 400km since I've owned the car.
Also thanks to Chris' gf Emma for driving my car for the last bit, I was too tired and it's good to just sit back and enjoy the drive. She started tailgaiting the luxury barge because Chris was only doing 95 on the freeway, but she's a good driver and she wants a zed now :thumbup:

Also to meet Mark (Jedi) for the first time.
And great also to catch up with some familiar faces from years past - Doug, Mike, Jack, Ben, Pete & Jen.

I had a super day. I drove from Apollo Bay to the 12 apostles as tail-end-charlie as I didn't want to ruin the line of Zs with my little blue MX5. Struggled to maintain contact on the straight bits but no trouble whatsoever on the twisties (that little bugger can handle)

Thanks to you Col and Kingy for organising a great cruise with a really impressive attendance - so many Zs and no 2 the same:zlove:

We'll have to do this again that's for sure.

My mate YoungZX and myself have about 30, only problem was they were all done with a 2 megapixel phone camera, that most the time I was holding on the roof of my ZX trying to drive. (Thanks to those that gave thumbs up whilst I was recording too, haha made it look unreal.)

My other mate has a clip which I will get off him tonight that was at Torquay, when we were all leaving. Some great footage will get a hold of that soon, and upload it somewhere for all. I think I took 30 photos and 30 videos.

Yup as everyone has said before it was a super day for all of us. I had a great time and yes the helicopter spot was worth the wait before lunch. I am very proud to have been part of this years cruise for that honour thanx Col and Kingy for putting this event on for us.

Also it was good to see everyone again. Didnt get much of a chance to meet and greet alot of members at the cruise, as the stops where abit to short to talk to everyone but thats becuase we had a sechdule to stick to so couldnt be helped. Next year maybe.

awesome cruise guys. My first one too. What happened with that green subaru? Apparently they got their car impounded or something? And did anybody else hear that prick yell at us as we were leaving Port Campbell? He said "doesn't matter if their black, red or white, they still look like shit". Dickhead.

anywho, on the last run i decided to stick with the front pack for a bit of fun. Few close calls. SammyK i'm looking in your direction and myself included By any means heaps of fun and i hope i didn't scare Xavier in the passenger seat too much

Yeah the guy in the green subaru was GOTBLZ and I's mate.
After the stop at point danger we stayed behind to get footage of us leaving, then caught up but somehow fell behind once again so he tried to catch up.
Unfortunately a cop saw him speeding to catch up and the idiot tried to evade him.
However even though he did evade him he got caught after the cop waited along the road for him.
This should be a lesson for everyone not to get caught!:nono:

The whole day was Brilliant, especially the surprise photo shoot.
Thanks very very much Big Col and Kingy... both did a bloody good job.

Good workout for the abs, going through the twisties too, and a couple of short sprints for fun.

Why did you have to go and say that? Your car is the same colour as mine and I thought having a burgundy Zed would keep me out of this black/red zed mess :\

 

Well speeding is only bad when you do it in such places so sorta 50/50 lol.

Yeah he was my mate, but it was clearly stated "don't speed".

The whole story was he wanted to catch back up to the group, and he was stuck behind some old person doing like 40 in a 60 zone, so she was about to turn off, he sped up to overtake her, and got done at 107km/h, the cop turned on the sirens, he turned the corner as he knew he was a goner, came back out and the cop got him.

All in all, $850 later, and 12 months loss of licence with a 48 hour impound. Expensive day. Best day of my life, was the worst of his.

Other than that we all did great for the day, I know I was on the speed limit for the day, except maybe once or twice , but that was of course because I was going down hill and its so hard to slow a heavy ZX .
