i was driving on the freeway and exited.. when i was stationary i could smell and see smoke coming from under the car..

so i pulled over and looked under the car.. and i could see smoke radiating from where the cats are..

Are there any sort of hoses associated with water, oil or steering fluid, in that region? that could drip there and cause the smoke?

i recently replaced my 02s could that have caused it?

i thought i should get a rough idea from the zed gurus before taking it to a local mechanic..

    thanks everyone..

Are you running redline g/box oil?

Its a long shot, but I know my gearbox oil overflowed (there is an overflow pipe at the top of the box) and stuck to my exhaust. Could cause smoke I guess but I'm not sure.

    hmmmm

Hey, when you park your car up, is there an oil leak left behind?

Seconded with leaking gearbox oil, I experienced this (to a lesser extent) with a leaky output seal

yeah there are signs of oil leak.. im thinking it could be somewhere related to the gear box too..
i recently had the gearbox changed.. so maybe i should take it back to the guy who changed my gearbox?

Yeah if leaking around gearbox definately take it back there. They might not have done anything wrong but at least they know the car and should have an idea what condition your seals are in. Pain in the arse if the box has to come out again so hopefully it's just output seal...

Is there any oil left for you to see the colour? Can you see if it's leaking from the front or the back of the gearbox? Have you checked the level of your gearbox and engine oil?

Get under it with some spray on/off degreaser and give it a good clean so you can see where the oil is leaking from.

I agree with these guys, and considering you just had the gearbox replaced maybe the apprentice overfilled it with oil o_O If it was me i'd go back there first before i wasted anymore time underneath the car
