you should win against that a lightly modded tt will beat a ls1 equipped commodore so a 5ltr will be a no brainer.... my mates vs caprice with a 5.7 ltr hsv stroker(factory from hsv based on the 5 ltr block) with no mods made 170rwkw at the aus300 dyno day here in perth, while a vt 5ltr made 120rwkw or so..... compare that to the 300zx tts running anywhere between 150rwkw for the really sick ones up to 250rwkw still on stock turbos, with an average of 180-200rwkw then that should give you a rough answer to your question....:zlove:

I raced one at Willowbank at the last Z drag night. I completely stuffed the launch and ran a 15.8 and still thrashed him. I think he got a 16.5 I have the timeslip hanging around somewhere *wanders off*
You haven't said what boost you're running - but if running stock boost, my best guess is: YOU - 13.9 VRSS - 14.8 Tell us the results! Oh, and that assumes the VR's "few mods" don't include a stroker kit, supercharger, or nitrous!
Saw this last night, at work. Had to have a laugh :biggrin: when I saw the Commodore forum members saying the VS would have no chance! Sad about the banning, Trav. Will you miss them?

When i had my N.A Zed there wasn't a stock ford or holden that i couldn't beat or keep up with Mine was all stock except for exhaust... :zlove: But the 'private road' use to run out before i could gain a car length or two :zlove: HSV AND FPV...thats a different story If i had a TT .... I just love the look on someones face when there $60 000 holden or ford gets :bash: by a 17 year old 300zx with half the CC's :zlove:

a vr ss uses the same 5.0l v8 that has been used since the vk and vn models. it is a shite engine and for an engine that size to be repeatedly beaten n(my neighbours) by my na proves that. a stock ss prior to ls1 would be looking at mid 15s to 16s imo
As someone who has driven your car...... As you know I nearly brought the car you now have, and both myself and a good mate (fellow zed owner) took it for drives, and so have a few thoughts on it. IN your favour, you have an "un-explained" 300 HP. Dont forget that. BUT both myself and my mate felt the same thing. Power isn't at all evident low down. So, we must assume it comes on late in the rev range (you should have found this by now yourself). or of course, the 300HP was achived before the boost leak (the one you said PZP said you have) if its the later, get that leak fixed before trying to prove anything on the strip. If it is that the power comes on late, get your launch revs HIGH so you are already in the powerband. What tyres is he using? You'res are quite thin, so getting a good "power band" launch will be hard to do without loosing traction. If you are just talking about stats or factory times, then yes you can assume "perfect launch" But you have actually challenged someone to a race. So assume nothing. If you want to win 1) ensure no more than 1/4 tank of fuel 2) Ditch EVERYTHING you can from your car that will reduce weight. Spare, tyre, tools, do some situps if your fat like me lol 3) Practice your launch and find the perfect revs to take off 4) Sit in your car with the windows up and a helmet on and rev to your launch RPM so hear what it will sound like on the night (completly diferent) 5) gear changes, get them spot on 6) On the night, dont love your car, HATE IT!!!! Hate its guts and want to break it Rule number 1 though... dont challenge someone to a race before youve already run your car and know how it performs hehe Good luck man. Im sure you'll trash him.
my best mate has a vs ss 5lt 5 speed being from the country we have access to private roads perfect for car testing, his ss was decimated by my z at a time when when i only had 146kw at the wheels plus prolly mid run i split a turbo hose, But another mate had a vq (i think thats the right model) statesmen it had a gen 3 n 5 speed converstion and it destroyed the z
What mods does the SS have? If it has Cam work it could beat you, thats "IF" it has it. Otherwise it has no chance. To get a 5lt fast it needs to have either cam work head work or SC.
my brother had a vs ss and the motor was fully worked (all done by rebels bikey gang).... and it pulled 9.9 on the quarter mile
