no, not me.. i was driving to work this morning down grand prom and hit a bit of a traffic jam, as i crossed the intersection there was a car to the side blocking one lane.. i realised it was a zed and i was trying to work out if i knew the guy.. black auspec then i saw his missing a wheel so i pulled over to help out.. just picked it up from the mechanic.. ready for the pits.. wheel fell off and tore the fender off.. ouch.. his only just bought it gave him a hand, he was a bit shaken up.. used the towy's jack and his stuffed scissor to get the car high enough to put the wheel back on and he drove it home slowly (2 snapped studs and rooted fender) zed buries its sill into the grano without a wheel it seems.. makes it very difficult to get a jack under it i told him about the forum and gave him one of my cards and wrote the address on it. so im guessing he will be here very shortly looking for a drivers fender.. poor bastard.. i hope his mechanic foots the bill for not doing the wheel nuts up
I've seen that happen before too, it's amazing how much damage it can actually cause. Upon further inspection I bet the underside of the car has bottomed out really badly and I'd say his brake rotor is toast aswell so both fronts will have to be replaced. It's going to cost that mechanic a pretty penny to fix it.
Damn lukcy he had a zed just passing by who happen to have a helpful owner willing to assist. I hope he joins the forums and we can get him back on his feet asap. Minivan well done on assisting a zed owner in need:zlove:
Wholly shit!!! Thats horrible!! Really want to make Craig do the wheel studs now..i've got them here ready to go (just gotta get round to it) ... Hope this all gets sorted out soon..
I ALMOST had that happen to me a few years back, had someone try to steal my wheels and got to our TWO sets of locknuts, didnt redo teh others (as you wouldnt being a lowlife scum) and was lucky to be driving in a backstreet dropping a friend home instead of driving down the hwy home! heard pop pop pop! and the car felt like it dropped through the ground! luckily the wheel DIDNT fall off!but we broke the studs...imediately went out and bought 20 new studs!
ffaarrrkkk yeah i had 1 front week with loosened nuts come loose.. shat myself.. but caught it just in time bloody robbos trying to get me!
OMFG, i fkn hate tyre places and mechanics not doing nuts up properly on my mags i have a centre cap so you cant see the nuts or anything...just recently when i got some different tyres put on after going on, a week later i was doing some work on my car went to take off the centre cap and found two of the nuts just sitting in there...and the rest wereee sooo loose, absolutly no force was applied to loosen the nuts....scared the living shit out of me always double check
brake rotor will be fine.. justa lil scratched up.. underside shouldnt be too bad.. he was just going around the corner at low speed and traveled about 10m i think he will be up for a new fender, some touch up paint on the door maybe and a lick of underbody bitumen to cover any bare metal there is now
You can buy cans of body deadener and also underbody coat from Supercheap. About $10 a can and will do the job.
mechanic needs hanging by the scrotum ... god, just to think what might have happened if belting down the highway is just way too scary..... :bash: :bash:
how unlucky is that ouch. i hope that guy will be visiting his mechanic with a rather large damage bill... that makes me angry... on the possitive hes lucky he wasnt in a major accident
poor guy ... i don't think some mechanics realise that they have ppls lives in their hands. from past experience i've found that they forget to fit s$*t back on properly they sit stuff on then get distracted and forget to tighten back up and this goes for anything from interior panels to engine parts, wheels etc. make sure you trust who you're leaving your car to or at least double check what they've done. apart from tom and dave NO ONE is touching my car without me looking over their shoulder, this includes totally unrelated workshops (ie stereo places, window tinting etc)
Very true... and sadly a lot of mechanics are way too lazy, complacent, ignorant or all of those and more!!! Good to see he's ok, hope it's resolved in his favor.
Thats a sight for sore eyes. Andrew good work for pulling over to help a fellow zedder. Its the last thing you want to happen especially first thing in the morning.
