    Hey Guys

My Zed Died the other night whilst driving home. It back fired once then died and would not start again.
Ran a diagnostics on it and came up with a code 11- crank angle sensor and code 34- detonation (which would be a result of the code 11).
Any ways what i am wondering if anyone could give me some information about the crank angle sensor location and how to change.
Im a little pissed off as i had just got it back on the road after nearly a year and had only been driving it for 2 days.

    Thanks in advance...

    Jaysen

    AndyMac Better than you

Mate I'll put money on your CAS plug...pull it off, tighten the female connectors a little and stick it back on.

Code 34 is det sensor but thats a side issue...if you lose connection with your CAS then the car won't start.

I would also buy some inox and spray the connectors while unplugged, the cas in case you dont know is the circular metal thing on the front passenger side of the motor, same thing happened to mine and all fixed after that so yeah good luck

    ZX2NV Z Racing Evolution

    Same as others

Check the connections especially if a 89 or 90 zed. Dont worry too much about code 34 most zeds have these faults on them its nothing really to worry about (i know about it so dont post am being very very broad here) mine included till it was bypassed (I know dangerous to do but more to it)

Hope you get it sorted Zeds can be really fun or really f#@ckn annoying thats for sure.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Just checked the connections, unpluged and cleaned both the CAS and PTU with contact cleaner. Replaced and tried to start...... Still nothing just kickes over with no firing.

Yeah The car has power, cranks over fine, but it just wont fire......
I'm at a loss, can't seem to find a CAS as well, no one i have contacted seems to know where to get one or worse still what they are.
Even rang Nissan and they don't even have a listing.

Any one know where to get one and how much?
Does simon from ttzed sell them as they are not listed on site only connector.

This is the Crank Angle Sensor.. I'm no expert but most Nissans look like they use a common CAS..

so the code is obviously still tehre then, try dissconecting your ecu for a few hours to reset it and see if it is still there, you can do this by disconnecting the battery the cas eror code is just the connector most of the time, it may be that it just hasnt been cleared so it still shows up, how are your spark plugs, possibly starter motor i suppose, somone confirm as this is just a guess

    red32 You talkin' to me?

You won't get a new CAS for love or money...
I had a problem with mine a while back and priced a new one from my local Nissan dealer...$1100, ex-japan with 3 weeks delivery. Parts fella said he had NEVER sold one in 15 years. I'm not surprised.
Try your local Zed wrecker, or email John @ Cresta

Cas error code could have been fixed

but now cause of code 34 det sensor, your engine is in safety map and richens the mixture. Possibly now your plugs are fuel fouled, especially if you have been trying to start over and over.

Often you get this prob where the original cause of the problem has been solved but a new one has been created in the process.

Clear the error codes with datascan/consult (ask a fellow zedder locally to do for you) and see it code 11 comes back up.

If Code 11 comes back then ensure you have bent over the female connectors like this to ensure a proper contact...

If not then your prob is def elsewhere (and I'd be checking/cleaning your spark plugs next)

Next prob is the code 34... do a search in the tch section, lots of info and the way to bypass temporarily with a 10cent 1Meg Ohm resistor from Dick Smith
