    Not Quite TRUE!

A Skyline with RB26 at the Perth Autosalon this weekend put out 882 RWHP on the Dyno. Most powerful car ever at an autosalon in AUS that did not use NOS.
Now thats impressive POWER and TORQUE.

Looks like a boat though. Luv the Zed's looks!

Everything about a Zed is better!

Admittedly i have an unhealthy relationship with my Zed, but that's because IMO they are better in every way than the Skyrine.

    especially the looks!!!

    OK ... my experience

this doesn't directly answer your question .... or perhaps it does. Anyway, it's about the subject.

I bought my first Zed about 5 years ago. Reason was that I had always loved the look, the shape. They have almost a "natural" attractiveness. Some cars look like they are a stock family people mover, and have been given a spoiler or perhaps a full bodykit to make them look nice. The Zed just has the looks straight out of the box! It is not the result of any compromise. So that's why I bought my first Zed - an Ausspec N/A.

I did a lot of checking and cross-checking of this particular car before I bought it to ensure it was a good example. It was only after I bought one that I became aware of the extent of comprehensive engineering Nissan had gone to in its design. It is truly on the same scale as Porsche engineering, in fact it was designed to compete with, and beat these.

The more I learn about this car, the more I am impressed. For example:

    1. It has extensive fault detection and monitoring systems.
    2. It handles brilliantly right out of the box, no ifs, no buts.
    3. It has clearly been designed as a tight unit. Everything just fits into the space it was designed for, not a millimetre more, not a millimetre less - Try finding somewhere to fit the after-market HID lighting kit ballasts without replacing the stock air filter with a pod filter.
    4. The quality of finish is very high - this is the first car I have owned that I have used Meguiars to polish the doorsills.

So, having owned a very reliable, well performing and head turning N/A for a few years, I decided to cover the range and bought a TT for the weekends. It has the same level of detail and finish, and some brutal power. I love both cars and cannot contemplate parting with either of them.

wrt technical knowledge, this forum and other Zed forums have many members who hold a substantial degree of this .... and the people are, generally speaking, helpful, cooperative and balanced individuals. This is a far cry from some of the "boy racer" forums that I am sure you are aware of. So, there is the advantage of a sense of community in owning a Zed.

I don't consider the Skyline a competitor to the Zed. I didn't know much about the Skyline when I decided to buy my first Zed. I know more about them now. They are a very capable car, however they are just not the car for me.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Very well said Peter, the Z was a competitor of the Supra. So i duno where the Skyline is coming from.

I have nothing but respect for the mgithy GTR. All those years flogging the Aussie V8's round the mountain and when they were forced to remove their turbos, they still flogged everything! Personally I would prefer to own an R32-R33 GTR, but only a GTR. The Zed though I found was far better value for money and with my recently found new horsepower, I like it more than ever :zlove:

Same reasons, for its shape and uniqueness. The zed cars always turns heads. Skylines are almost as common as commodores. I didn't buy my NA for power... I bought it for its looks, and I couldn't be happier. I see more z33s than z32s! Shows how rare it is to see them out there.

    looks? Z

performance? (neglecting at the lights) the Z was made in 1989, and so was the GTR... but it took until about 1998 for the stock GTR to be quicker than the stock Z (because the Z has more torque)

competitor? the supra... toyota delayed bringing out it's supra when nissan brought out the Z32 and it took until '93 for toyota to build something better

i do think the supra is better in terms of performance, but i'd rather have my Z... (if you want to argue, then don't...) and the supra ass looks good... but the front is too girly... and it has big girly hips also... just the ass is nice... mmm doggy...

if you average it all out in the looks department, the Z wins... and the targa roof well.. YUM
(that was a big factor for me cos i love taking the roof off)

an r34 gtt is NOT more powerfull that a z and nor is it quicker, and 32 gtr's arent exactly beasts either, its more reuptation than anything, so far

    GTR -0
    ME - 2

    on private road ofcourse :)

For me it was a choice between an RX-7 series 4 or 5 to the Z..

The Zed won me over with her charm.. afterall she is called the "fairlady" ;)

P.s. Thought of a skyline.. but like said before, there too common, plus stock zed's are hot hot hot!!

    300Z vs Skyline

8 months ago i put the same question to a mate of mine who has had a few track cars including an R33GTR & now a Nissan Cefiro, got the same response from him and a few others

    300z
    Slow & Heavy
    Handles Like a Boat
    Costly to upgrade

Ignoring his "advise" because i fell in love with the 300's cause they were so shit hot. I since bought a N/A as an initial buy and have taken him for a demo on Putty Road (long extremely bendy road for 100kms)

I managed to scare the crap out of him, the handling was better than anything he'd driven before - so low/flat and wide.

The power coming out of the n/a was more than enough on your windy bends with lots of torque in 2nd and 3rd.

Apart from it being one of the sexiest cars money can buy its also one of the most fun and comfortable drives.

But apart from all that, nearly all the Skyline drivers i've met have been complete wankers after going to my mates Skyline get togethers.

You'll find 9/10 Z owners will always wave when you drive by, not to mention the forum communities willingness to help with any problem.

2nd that nox lambo / corvette genetics!

I really believe in the looks you get the front of a lambo and the rear of a 'vette...

the z was made this way for the american market...delibratly designed to be big and wide.. its just a fluke that this 1 came out perfect!!

i have plenty of fun in the modded atmo spec... drags i guess it needs top end but in the hills im not scared of anything...

skylines look and handle like a comodore especially a 33....

a lil 32 would be my pick as a drag car but the zed for the hills and goin out to dinner!
