Hey all, just a question, there is this wired whiring noise coming from my 1990 300zx tt, the noise is only evident when the clutch is engaged, sorry about the loosness of the discription. When i put my foot on the clutch for example there is no noise just the sweet sound of the engin running but when i take my foot off the clutch when the car is in neutral there is a whirring noise. Just wounderin how i can fix this.

    cheers

I have this noise to mech. tells me it's a bearing in the gearbox and box has to come out :(

I've got it too, it can't be the TO bearing as that isn't 'engaged' when the clutch is out. It'd have to be a bearing or seal in the 'box

    Bearing code:

    KOYO
    RCT4OSA
    (It's the same as OEM)

Came with my Exedy clutch and didn't get rid of the noise.

not the T/O bearing, you will hear this with the foot on the clutch not off..

mine does the same thing.. its one of the bearings in the gearbox input shaft

    Re: Throw-out bearing on clutch...

If it was the clutch bearing, wouldn't it be making the noise when he has his foot on the clutch? IE: when the bearing is engaged...?
    Correct me if I'm wrong?

    Cheers,

    The clutch bearing will only

make noise (rattling)when the clutch is not engaged, theres no preasure on it.

it will be a gearbox bearing..

the throw out bearing or thrust bearing is ony in use when your foot is on the clutch. so when your foot is off the clutch the noise you are hearing will be a grearbox bearing...

the throw out bearing or thrust bearing is only in use when you have your foot on the clutch.

Re: The clutch bearing will only

noo.. the bearing isnt even spinning when your foot is off the clutch, shouldnt even touch the finger spring on the clutch

    Well the next time

you have your gear box out, grab hold off the relese bearing, if its worn out you will be able to move it a little on its sleve, when the clutch is depresed there is preasure on the bearing so no noise then! let the clutch out and theres no preasure on the bearing, its free to rattel, and thats exactly what it dose.
