it seems like the problem is electrical. At first when i turned the key to start the car nothing happened. the instrument lights came on as usual, the car has power and is in neutral. That aside, when i try now i can hear rappid clicking from inside the bay. I have no idea what to check to fix it. any ideas?
starter relay ok. http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=805035 this must be my relay...
clicking solenoid means one of two things.. dirty connectors or rooted battery.. very rare that it would be the starter itself
where is the relay where the hell is the relay unit?! im looking under the guards on both sides and i still cant find it..
same with me car won't start either, luckily am able to jump start it but if i try to start it using the key all i hear is a electrical sizzling sound and it does nothing, does this mean my battery may be stuffed. I was hoping it wasn't my starter motor.
are you sure? removing the relay here doesnt do anything. the instructions on the tech article say that the relay is under the lining on front drivers side wheel. am i looking for the wrong thing?
it should still turn the motor Surely if the battery has had it (but has some power left) the starter would still turn.
If the battery is nearly discharged, the soleniod will jump in and out, without turning the motor, that ticking sound your hearing is the soleniod.
Check for a loose nut on the starter motor Its under the heat deflector ,where the cable plate attaches to the solenoid.
no but its a dodgy alarm Not recently, but my alarm does strange things. it'll go off without reason (sometimes while im driving :wacko and cant be turned off some times. some mornings ill start the car and all power gets cut. opening and closing the driver door turns power back on. not sure if its related.
battery If i jump it will it keep going till i turn it off next, than i'll have the push it but it will keep powered whilst i;m driving it, did alright the other night so hopefully will till i suss out this problem
Get a good battery installed You could jump start it ok but low voltage may cause problems with engine management [ECU] and possibly find you stranded in middle of nowhere. All depends on what condition the old battery is really in.
its the battery! the battery was the problem. hooked a car charger up and the car started no probs. i guess i either have a dud battery or something is draining it. ill see if the battery can hold itself. thanks for the help guys
Check that your seat adjust switches return to their centre position. they some times stick on and flatten the battery
Happend to me sunday had reds, wouldnt start, thort it was my alarm?? checked bateery had voltage, still nothing just a clicking noise, tryed to jupmstart it still nothing. :unsure:last night repaced may battery, fired up first go all is good now :zlove:
