Hi Z-Folk, I've been getting a sort of 'clacking' noise coming from the rear (and I think left) of the car. It only really occurs when accelerating from a stop, or turning left at low speeds. Once I get above roughly 20-30kph it will never happen. The more power I put down, the louder it gets, and when I let off the accelerator it stops. It's also intermittant, and I'm not sure what factor brings it on. I've had some holes in my exhaust patched up recently, but I don't think it has anything to do with that (doesn't sound right), plus it was happening before that work anyway. My old man is pretty mechanically minded and reckons it could be a CV joint - I dunno, I've got no mechanics experience really. Has anyone experienced a similar thing, or have any advice as to what it might be? Thanks all, M
Sounds like CV joint >>> Or park brake shoe sticking. If coming from LHS when turning left, unlikely to be wheel bearing. Have it checked out on a hoist by a competent Zed workshop.
re: Sounds like CV joint >>> Doh! Made a mistake, I hear the noise when turning RIGHT, not left. *smacks head* So I guess the wheel bearing is a potential culprit then as well. Thanks for the info K-Zed.
