Change wiring to 'all black' While you could easily physically do this (just would take a long time!), your insurer could just as easily turn around and deny a claim as the system is originally sold as a coloured wire system. Also, as most of you will be fitting this alarm yourselves (or me as I understand for a few Qld people so far), again your insurer could deny a claim stating the system was not installed by a licenced installer. Wouldn't be worth your time/energy. Would be cheaper (in terms of time and peace of mind) to also buy and have fitted a boring (but approved) 'all black wire' system as the 'base' and then add this system yourself on top for all it's extra features...
Hey! I want auto windows up feature!!! Just kidding, I swear if my door card has to come off one more time I will self destruct!!!
Don't get your panties in a bunch, I haven't wired up the auto-window option yet...I'm much more interested in adding a second/third immob point for you ATM...
piggybacking alarms... just a quick question: If i was to purchase a standard alarm system with black wiring, etc, then install this alram system and use the paging functions etc... what about enable/disable the alarm, would the pager/remote from this alarm be able to disable the alarm from the standard system? I want to know the best option. I mean, call me stupid, but i don't have anything in my Zed at the moment... no immobilizer or alarm (i.e. it hasn't been over the pits). If i just get one of these, would i be able to get it over the pits and insured? Also, installation difficulty... 1 to 10? 1 being connecting a battery, 5 being stereo install and 10 being some wiring guru beyond you wild imagination...
Answers for ZRATED No, you would also use the remote supplied with the other alarm to it on/off Up to your insurer. They are all different. You need to ask them what specific requirements they have in relation to alarms/immobilisers such as *'all black wiring?' *'# of immobilisation points' * 'passive arming?' * 'internal immobiliser relays?' etc. The whole system (all 30 odd wires and every available option etc) is a 10+. Just the alarm/immobiliser/pager etc about a 6... It's more time consuming than 'difficult'...
