Rather then let us tell you.....>>

What you should buy, why don't you go out and test drive a couple of different cars, both auto and manual and then make up your own mind. Having the guys who like autos tell you to buy an auto and the guys with manual trying to convince you otherwise is not the right way to go about it.

manual vs auto my opinions :p

    autos

    pros:
    easy to launch

    cons:
    easier to damage
cost a packet when they need to be fixed
more drivetrain loss i.e less power than a manual
less fun to drive around curvy roads

    manuals

    pros:
you have total control of the rev range and when to shift gears
more fun to drive, a lot more fun to drive
cheaper to repair if something goes wrong
can handle more power than a stock auto box
most of the quickest street drag cars are manual
    less drivetrain loss

    cons:
a PITA to drive when you have a heavy clutch in traffic
Require clutch replacements more often (at least once a year or 2 years depending on how you drive and what clutch you have)

There are a few more things but i would go for a manual any time. If you were buying a mercedes or something then thats when u go with an auto :p

    good luck

I reckon an auto's the Go cos .....

I'm lookin for a manual out of Japan and that would mean less competition (Sorry couldn't resist) ;););).

Hope you get a great car!!! :):):)

    cheers,

I've had a drive of both...

    manual and auto.

I own a manual and its good fun, bit of a pain in heavy traffic, stop start all the time with a 6 button clutch... but apart from that its good. Feels a lot more sporty and aggressive in manual.

An auto is a different feel all together in these cars, a lot smoother, more relaxing, easier to cruise in, feels like a classier car for some reason.

To be honest I wouldn't mind an auto, they are pretty nice to drive from what I've experienced. I don't think you could really go wrong either way though.

Probably manual if you like to drag and auto if you like to cruise.

    auto not that bad

When i bought my car i had my heart set on a manual, but i couldn't find a decent one at a resonable price so i ended up with an auto, and honestly i absolutly love it. From a driving point of view the auto seems really good, very smooth. I only cruise with my car and don't do any track days though, i guess if you wanted to do alot of track stuff then i would say deffinetly a manual, otherwise there is nothing wrong with an auto.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    I don't have the figures to back this up . . .

but it's my understanding that, all things being equal (mods, power, TT or NA, etc) the auto will actually out-accelerate the manual, especially in the mid-range.

Memo to self: buy a good flame-proof suit.

    Cheers,

I havent driven a manual but then again I'm lazy

especially in traffic and yes on the track the auto needs a little pre-thought but when you come out of a corner and throw in the boot she sizzles and there is no waiting.
You are instantly down to the right gear then up to red line and she changes faster than you can bat an eyelid!
You seem to have more time to watch the track and concentrate on you cornering than trying to change gears!

    Long live the auto

Besides an auto is so cool with the dolls!
not that it worries me too much at my age, As for repairs well I saw someone who was trying to flog one the other day for $300 so there are enough rev heads amongst us who convert to manual to keep us in autos for years!;)

    regards John:cool:

I used to have an auto Z and now have a manual

I used to be a lazy driver now I enjoy my driveing much more.
If you drive in peak hour traffic alot you might consider the auto.

personally dude i would think what u need it for

if mainly using for city driving, i.e stop start, i'd get an auto but if you feel the need to change gears get a manual. Personally i feel you should get what you need most not what produces most power effeciently. From my experience both are good to drive so it's up to you.
