After my recent run of stuff going wrong with the zed, the final nail in the coffin was when my heater core popped on wednesday night! :x :x I cracked the sh#ts something cruel (narrowly avoid kicking anything breakable). I have bypassed it for now as this car has left me broke for the forseeable future.Anyone want to buy a 300zx? :`( Cheers

    I very nearly cried

when it happened. Fortunately, it popped just as I was leaving my brothers house, so was able to park it there.BTW, does anyone know what hose (part no) to use to bypass the heater core? Cheers

    tell me about it

    1st) injector connections
    2nd) driveshaft
    3rd) shocks, bushes, steering rack
    4th) heater core
5th) ????all in the space of 2 months!!!I am not made of money and am in debt up to the wazoo and am this close to cutting my losses and coming back when I can really afford a 300. Of course all this will be moot if I win the $18 million lotto this saturday ;) Cheers

    I feel ya

It seems my Valve stem seals are gone or on the way out, one either 1 cyl or a few on the left bank. That's a 3,000 $ price tag drive away, there abouts I was told.
I am contemplating removing my heads my self, but then I am also thinking why not just buy one of them new motors on ttzed and plonk that in. then I wont have to worry about any thing. I possibly also might have some gear box problems, to add to that, some strange noises coming from the box :(, but it's possible it could be clutch - thrust baring related, haven't yet got it diagnosed. Then on the way home tonight my tire got punctured some where on the free way left it with 2 big holes in it :( , to add my other side tire is quite warn, some very bad alignments only done 10,000km's on brand new S03's and they are all ready balled, on the front. Lucky for me the valve stem seals aren't such a major problem yet giving me time to recover some money, after just finishing my stezza install. And if worst comes to worst I guess I'll sell my stezza and FMIC.

    Sorry to hear that dude.

I know how you feel.I just replaced my gearbox. then on the skyline cruise on the weekend I did $500 bucks worth of paint damage to my front bar and then on the way back one of the skylines kicked up a stone onto my windscreen. Only got that fixed today. What's next? You have to admit though, when everything is sweet....it doesn't get much sweeter!Hope your luck improves. And if you win the lotto, you can fix all our zeds!! :D :D Paul:YD

i'm going through the same thing mate...

I now think the car is a complete piece of crap even though she looks so good. Then I think about how it used to feel driving her, and when you finally get it back on the road, there's just no possible way you can hate her. The way people look at her and the way you look at her when she treats you right is unbelievable. Just try and focus on that mate...John

...keep your chin up... just think... with a car of similar age you'd be going through similar issues.

Just remember, everything you fix should

be one less thing to go wrong down the track. (except for heater cores it appears !!!)I wouldn't know- I bypassed mine as soon as I bought my zed. With the money I save on heater core fixes, I buy an extra pair of winter socks. And yes, I know I live in Qld but spend most of my time in NSW/Vic for work so I know how cold it gets [image]http://members.optusnet.com.au/markfield/scared.gif[/image] ...

    Bah...>>

try to keep four zeds going...two driven by teenagers. Just spent almost $6k repairing the latest incident on just one of them.Good luck with your repairs and having done a heater core or two the very best of luck to you. Maybe it's just a leaking tap...where is the coolant leaking....drivers side or passengers side?Cheers :`(

    Bear with it dude...

She will pay you back with hot looks and nice timeslips and insane cornering. That list isn't that bad compared to a lot of other guys on the forum. You haven't done a valve, lifters, a tranny, clutch or piston. It would be good if you could maybe learn off a few guys over there to do a bit of the work yourself to stop getting ripped off by mechanics. I've done all the work myself on my car except for a few tranny internals and saved big $$$$$.
Hope she behaves for a while after this.
    Rock on.

lol mines back at Daves after 2 days out...

after rebuilding the power steering pump to fix a leak a hose has split and dumped masses of oil straight into the alternator I also had rebuilt to fix it from oil dripping in.
