Noticed this pop up on my usual check of the auctions for interesting things: https://www.shannons.com.au/auction...-auction-rare-number-plates/JZ18A23EP8966DE6/ Documented 95K on it since new and 3 owners. Looks to be in fantastic condition compared to most of the Z32's these days Guiding range on the price looks a little ambitious to me for an auto, but you'd be hard pressed finding a better original one I think. Some of the other 90's Japanese cars they've had through lately have sold for some big dollars! RX7's, GTR's and the like. Will be interesting to see what it goes for.
Hi Guys, for what it is worth this is my car....... It's one of 40 Anniversary models not 122. I provided Shannons with all the facts and figures about these cars and they stuffed up the numbers. There were 122 series 4 cars and 1462 Australian delivered cars in total. PM me if you would like any more info on the car. Cheers, Bob.
Thanks, I can’t believe how undervalued these cars are. Anyway, I’ve lined up some affordable storage if it doesn’t sell so I have a plan B. Cheers..
How have you found dealing with the Shannons auction people from a Sellers perspective? I was thinking of using them when it's time to move the Lotus on. All my dealing from the buyers side has been pretty good, planning on bidding on Monday night actually
To be honest, not that good..... They initially posted an inspection report that stated "uneven tyre wear on all 4 tyres"...... Considering I put brand new tyres on last year and they have travelled less than 500 kms I got rather upset. I sent them an email to which they replied, apologising for the error.... Probably a cut and paste and they didn't delete all the info before starting mine report. Then last week I noticed that my car was one of only 3 that hadn't had their "Details and History" story listed. Once again I sent them an email to receive another apology saying that their web people overlooked it.... Then the icing on the cake was when I read the article..... I sent them all the details of the car and all about Australian 300ZX facts and figures. That info is this: 1463 300ZX cars sold in Australia from October 1989 to October 1995. This can be all verified through the registry here - http://gtr-registry.com/en-300zx-z32-au.php My car is build Number 1405 of 1463. It’s one of only 40 – 25th Anniversary Limited Editions. Please note that unfortunately these 40 cars are not identifiable within the database. Consequently, we don’t know colour and transmission splits within these cars. It’s one of only 52 built in Sapphire Blue (Paint Code TK3). One of ONLY 29 with automatic transmission in this colour. Needless to say when you compare what they have written compared to what I sent them there is considerable variance. So...... The proof is in the eating but todate, I'd rate it a "C" performance. I'm not confident in a positive outcome as everything to date has been disappointing. That said, it's a fabulous car and if the worst result is I bring it home and keep it for a few years then that's not really such a bad result. What car are you likely to bid on? Cheers...... Bob.
If it doesn't sell, like you said, keep it. Let everyone get over the GTRs and whatevers and eventually will wake up and realise how good/unique the Z32 is. Also, by then the well kept ones will be very few and collectable. If it doesn't sell now, meh..... We, in the Z32 community, already know how collectable a well maintained Z32 is and how much it costs to restore one to mint condition and holding on to our good examples. IMO.
I'm a huge GT-R fan (R32's) having owned 5 in total and currently owning an ADM and a V-Spec II so I know how good these cars are...... The ADM non turbo Z32's are not comparable in performance but certainly comparable in enjoyment. Sometimes it's really nice to cruise a nice road at the speed limit and just enjoy the scenery.
This would be a great car for a genuine collector. There aren't many out there any more that genuinely represent an original example. Hope it sells for top $$.
Thanks for your experience Bob, appreciate it. Black Alfa GTV. One for Dad, he had one when new. Bit hard to find a decent 4cyl one that isn't full of rust, so it sounds ok. Still needs lots of work though.
I friggin TOLD YOU ALL this day would come if you looked after them. Did anyone listen? NOOOOOOOOOO Sotherby's https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am19/amelia-island/lots/r0027-1996-nissan-300zx-twin-turbo/733353 Bring a Trailor https://bringatrailer.com/nissan/300zx/ The day of the Z32 has arrived. In years to come I'll tell my grand kids "I owned a 300ZX once" and they wont believe me because it's just too fanciful. And I'll have to remind myself....my one was SHIT ....still remains the fastest 1/4 mile car I've owned even in the shit condition it was in....yes....i mean "still". (looks at avatar)
Hagerty have just increased it's rating of the Z32 as well. I'm sure we will see really good ones climb in value. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/03/06/1990-96-nissan-300zx-getting-hot
And again from Hagerty https://www.hagerty.com/articles-vi...mail&utm_content=Daily_News_Thursday_March_14 Sold for $53,200 USD Very low K example of course. Sorry just noticed that that story is actually referring the Sotheby's action I posted above lol. So that was the final winning bid. Nice. Let's put this into perspective.... It wasn't long ago you'd have picked up a Ferrari 348 for that money. In fact, it wasn't really that long ago you'd have picked up a LHD Testarossa for that money.....only you wouldn't have, you' have laughed with your mates saying "You seen this idiot on Gumtree trying to get that much for a LHD!!!! A LHD!!!!!" And I'm not even joking.
