Hey guys anyone running the je forged pistons? The factory tt oil squirters hit so was wondering if someone else has experienced this and what they have done? Been reading na squirters are better to run anyway because of the angle, volume etc but are they going to fit without hitting the pistons? Cheers
I have been running JE Forged Pistons in my rebuilt TT for several years. There has never been an issue(such as you report)in my engine during that period of time. Is it possible that the "squirter's" you have, are somehow fitted incorrectly(or dislodged)and THIS is the reason for your issue?
Hey chilli I'm currently building the engine and just visually inspecting it as it's open and I turn the crank, they are definatley fouling and are tt originals, on the je website it says you either have to remove or modify them when I did some research, funny there was no warning note or anything in the box... I'm hoping it's as simple as na squirters
It is very common to bend the TT squirters or change to NA squirters when using forged pistons. I always thought it was a direction of oil flow issue rather than a clearance issue. But there you go!
My guess is that when Autotech Engineering did my rebuild they MAY have modded(or changed)these. The issue has never been discussed(and the engine has behaved faultlessly ever since said rebuild). It WAS a comprehensive rebuild, so anything is possible.:zlove::br:
fek it Biting the bullet and purchased na squirters new from nissan, wont see them for 3 weeks but ill post the difference between them and tt(physically) and if they actually fit without modification etc... p.s. got the squirters cheaper off my local nissan dealer than coz or z1 if anyone was wondering
Great info. Do you have a link to that on JE's website? What's the part number, and what was the quote for the NA squirters?
Info Je website with info: https://www.jepistons.com/Catalogs/Sport-Compact/Nissan-Infiniti/vg30de.aspx My piston set part number is 322289 which is on the list If you meant the squirter part no. sorry i dont know as i got my boss to order them in, $40 ea delivered 3 weeks wait because of japan stock Hope this helps
Thats why i asked for personal experience For starters you couldn't space them because then you will foul on the crank and i don't fancy removing them.. This is why i decided to find out if anyone has come up with anything in the past. This 'warning' also isnt in/on the box if you decide to buy from a distributor like i did hence why i had to go looking.
Hope it works out but I doubt the NA squirter will make any difference. How much is the interference ?
Guess we will see Will measure clearances when i get the na squirters Yeah anti pricey but cheapest for new haha didn't used ones incase someone accidentally sold me tt ones or they were damaged or block etc etc not worth the hassles
I had to modify my oil squirters for my custom wiseco pistons . Neither the TT or NA's cleared the pin/bore bridge/skirt design (don't recall exactly which) but had to bend and angle the squirters to suit . My squirters still point to the piston underside like original TT's . Is a very tight clearance. .
