    Hi all,

I'm Aidin, new to the forum and to zeds, was a bmw boy up until now. Looking forward to sharing information with you all.

So I went to fill up in the zed i jus bought and pulled out half the fuel filler neck when i was unscrewing the cap. What i think has happened is that whoever imported the vehicle cut off the opening of the original fuel filler neck, then has cut off a fuel filler neck from another vehicle which has a ADR approved filler opening with fuel cap and siliconed it into the existing fuel filler neck. quite dodgy...

i was wondering what the go is with the rest of you guys with imported zed?, same story or did the importer go throught the effort to find a proper fuel filler neck and change it? also i was wondering where i could buy one from in perth?

    Cheers.

Place an ad in the WANTED Section, there are a number of cars being parted out.
Probably best if you specify whether it's for a 2.0 or 2+2.

I had a similar thing, they used silicone to hold in the fuel restrictor.

I waited til my fuel tank had been run right down, and pulled out the neck and had it braised on stopped fuel leaking out when I went around a corner and had a full tank too!

If you have a 2+2 an AU spec neck is possible to swap them out. there is no AU spec 2+0.

in the early days, it was the law with jap imports to put in a australian style fule filler neck as part of the compliance procedure.

by law, it had to be done along with seatbelts, side intrusion bars in the doors and a bunch of other things.

so while it looks dodgy that it was just glued in, its pretty common, and even more common for it to eventually start leaking.

Have a look around for a shop that specializes in doing compliancing for imports, they will most like have one you can fit, or if your not comfortable in fitting it, maybe for a slab or 2 they might fit it for you properly.

Just glue it back in place with Sikaflex 225 or U-Knead-it epoxy(did mine 15 yrs ago. Still waiting for it to come loose again).:zlove::br:
