Long story short... the zed isnt running well and im going to wakefield tomorrow to want to fix her. Na auto, rebuild motor, twin thermos and alc. New mods light weight udp and 180amp alternator. Ptu relocation The proplem is the car feels like it is hitting the limiter (or some kind of restriction) at high rpm. Then goes onto a miss at load to all ways missing.. (can happen over a km or 10+) the zed has done the first part before (I was going for a run in the mountain and using my gears when it first started.) I am thinking it is a ptu problem but unsure of how to trace... ask me questions if this info isnt enough. And help me make it to the track on saturday Edit: also doesn't miss for the first few kms. So temp related?? And water temp? Wires have be tucked under the throttle cover
can be caused by a dodgy AFM. if it sends out the wrong voltages you can get fuel cut which feels like it's hitting the limiter. if you can borrow one, swap it out for a known good AFM. could also be spark related such as s1 PTU or coilpack / old wiring leads.
Just swapped with a working afm no different. I have a s2 ptu. Its the plug and play one from czp. How can I check the wires? Is there a voltage/resistance test? If I let the car sit for a few minutes then start I will be able to drive it like normal for a random amount of time... cant get it to go into diganostic mode either (could be peraonal stupidity) I noticed I have a dash light fashing Its to the right (looking at the cluster) of the power light. Mine is aus spec
Which dashlight is flashing? Anything can cause these cars to miss unfortunately, I've also had missing caused by the following reasaons: Water temp sensor played up at some stage and on ECUtalk it showed as jumping up and down between 30 to 80 degrees. There was a noticeable change in exhaust note when the sensor reported 30 degrees and it ran rich but that won't feel like hitting the limiter like you're describing. Coilpack leads / loom, spark failed, ran on 5, felt like shit. Got some contact cleaner and cleaned all 6 coilpack connectors. Pushed them down really hard and never happened again.
Still nothing. Ptu to coilpack plugs (new plugs) have been rewired. And ptu to firewall (to ecu) have also been done. Checked cylinders for spark and noticed it would rather jump well over an inch then go through the spark plug (old spark plugs) And no spark on cylinder 5. Tryed my ptu on another zed and no problems after 30minutes of driving. Any ideas? Ben
No, it wasn't throwing a code... The weird thing is that it was a year old OEM unit. It quit working right at about three days past a year, and the dealership wouldn't cover it in warranty.
