Decided to finally install my dash camera on my Blue Z considering I'm on holidays finally So this is what the Dash Camera looked like initially, it's so messy, cables everywhere, almost impossible to make it look clean because of the position of the 300zx cigarette lighter position. So this obviously needed a change, I had a cheap 12v Ebay Adapter laying around, so I decided to use this as the first step in making the Dash Camera look a little cleaner. As you can see it plugs straight into the car charger and it just leaves you with a Red and Black Wire to connect up So I just did the usual removal of the fascia Then finally I removed the screws holding in the stereo I then pushed the red and black wire up through the passenger side into the stereo region Then I pulled on the wires to pull up the adapter I tucked the wire in neatly that goes to the Dash Cam around the trim Then I had to connect these two up somewhere I found a good place for the ground on a exist screw in the stereo region Then I just hooked up the Red wire to a existing 12v connection that would supply power when I turned on the ignition Finally Power Put everything back together Then it was all complete, mounted the Dash Camera where I wanted it and hid all the wiring in the trim above the windscreen and on the pillar. In summary this is a excellent way to hide your wiring for the Dash Camera, I'm sure there are other ways to do it more professionally but I thought I might share this with you guys to give you some ideas. Dash Cameras are great especially when your a P Plater and everyone will blame you in a car incident because your in a Zed and you have P Plates Then all you have to do is show them the footage to insurance/police
Hey Jamaine , good idea BUT under the laws in QLD are , if you have something obstructing a clear view through your windscreen ie: your cam , they can book you . You'll have too either mount it a tad higher so the screen is not in line of vision of your eyes or just keep the screen closed. Maybe mount it more too the passenger side up higher so it hides beside the rearview mirror, but make sure your camera angle picks up everything in front clearly.
I just went out and checked, it's pretty much hides behind the rear view mirror with the screen up in it's initial position, I'll fiddle with it a bit more tomorrow to see if I can get a better position. Thanks for the suggestion
You can unclip the windscreen piller trim and run the wires under the trim inside the piller for neatness.
That's a big monster. I've got this tiny one. Fantastic video and so small you cannot see it at all behind the mirror
After reading a few threads on the A Pillar removal, it seems common to crack the clips so I decided to not remove it So I just pushed the cable into the pillar
That looks pretty neat and compact , I might have a look at what they have to offer on the market atm. I got mine around January earlier this year and it was sitting in my other Zed for a few months. Only today have had the motivation to install it into the Blue Zed :zlove:
Watch out on really hot days as they fall of the windscreens. The plastic can also buckle, I had to send one back and get a replacement because of this.
I know it is a difficult concept for some people, especially if they are multi lingual and English is the second or third language (I gave up on French because the gender thing, so this isn't knocking anyone) but if in doubt just use one 'o' in to. I have mentioned this in PM, because internet is forever. About the dash/car DVR, I bought the rear vision mounted version with front and rear camera and rear bumper camera via cable. The whole thing sits in the rearview mirror. The warning when ordering is to specify our cars are RHD like Japan and UK. Get them to confirm in writing before they ship. They seller only replied to me after shipping and said that it doesn't matter anyway. They are wrong and admitted they didn't follow instructions. That means I have to mount the thing upside down. I play the footage by using the ms windows media player software to flip it. Still waiting for that refund or software patch. It is a neat solution, but get RHD.
Two, to, too. Cant search for 3 letter words so what does it matter? Liking the look of that compact unit. Interested to see what everyone else is using, record times ect.

Josh
Elise or exige. I love how the pic has an exige coming the other way as well. There is an old bloke living near me who uses a yellow elise as his daily. Much jealousy
