Perusing gumtree I cam accross this vv which claims a build thread on the 300zx forum, but I can't seem to find it. Or is there another forum? Everyone seems to know everyone here so help a new guy out 1992-nissan-300zx-coupe
There you go mate: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=308399 Old build thread from the previous owner who did all the work.
Great car at a great price by a great guy! So surprised this didn't sell a long time ago! Doesn't need fondling - lol Just wish it was red and I had the cash myself! (But colour is a personal thing I guess) JC
The fact it's not red is a big bonus for me. Now I just need to sell one of my cars so I can buy this. Someone was supposed to pick up my Landy last weekend, but it fell through at the last minute.
Wow this got repaired? The guy who bought it had a massive front ender just after he picked it up. Surprised it's still on the road.
Just panel damage from the look of it. What I find REALLY surprising is that this is the second owner that has refuse to tune it before sale.
Yeah that's a bargain, think if was going for around $9000 6 months ago Needed a little work but overall very tidy
The car was owned by a well known Sydney member, and was built to a fairly high standard. I've seen it in person a few times, and it is gorgeous, but I don't know how it is now. As said already, it was in a front ender. Also, the fact that it is STILL untuned is a bit of a no-no for me.
Since it's been driven so long without a tune, it's obviously on the safe side running rich without too much timing. It does have the bigger injectors after all. What's the procedure for a compression check on these things, ie which fuse or plug do I pull to kill the spark and fuel? Will unplugging the CAS do it? Was there a previous thread that the crash pic came from? The exploding front glass bar makes it look worse than it probably is. It doesn't look like it transferred to the front guards but one headlight looks a little pushed back. Apart from a bent radiator support there doesn't look like much more. If he still has it in a week or so, I'll go have a look and see how good the repairs are.
Bump with another car. Same theme, nice metallic blue, with some extra fasts. Surely they are a member here? http://www.boostcruising.com.au/car-sales/2463132-1989-Nissan-300zx-for-Sale.html
Wow, Benny only just recently sold that and now it is for sale again! Member Bobert bought it. He used to own a purple slicktop.
http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&slide=9 I believe the compression figures given in that link are for the naturally aspirated VG30DE, not the twin turbo VG30DETT. Based on a US Z32 service manual, the VG30DETT cylinder compression pressure is a minimum of 128 psi and a standard of 171 psi. Difference limit between cylinders is the same for the VG30DE and VG30DETT.
