So this morning I started my lady up to warm her up for a sunday cruise, when all of a sudden a large grinding noise and engine died, after going inside to get my phone I come out to this
    [IMG]

    She's dead :'(

Now, while I replace the engine I may aswell do a Manual Swap. So my question is would it be worth buying all the components seperatly (IE: engine, box, cluth, lines, master/slave cylinder, tailshaft, diff) or would i be better off getting a Halfcut - however not too sure if halfcuts include gearboxes.

Also, are the 2x2 and 2x0 engines/boxes the same?

    Thanks in advance!

PS: Sev, if you still browse these forums, I'm sorry! She will be back to her former glory soon enough.

Half cuts usually do include the gearbox, and if you can source a good one this is probably your best option as you're (almost) guaranteed all the parts you need.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

    Hold the phone here!!!

You absolutely sure the engine is munted?
Is that definitely engine oil from a rod thru the bock or is it power steer fluid from a buggered PS pump??
Funky looking oil if its actually engine oil mang!

Second that , have a real good look before you go buying a half cut. Check the dip stick on the motor and also check the power steering fluid level and take the power steering belt off and see if the noise goes away ( the alternator and air conditioning as well if you want ).

Fairly certain it is rooted, shes able to start again but got a very deep banging noise that wasnt there before, and everytime i pull on the throttle body it pools up the fluid under the car. Car also wont move unless im sitting on 6k rpm in Reverse.

Her powersteering 99% of the time dosnt work, previous owner did get the PS pump replaced but the issue is still there.

Oil was only replaced about 1200km ago, which is why i was a bit worried.

I'll take a look at those things mentioned tomorrow morning

It does sound like just the auto has died.

K Y Automotive had a half cut come it at the start of May. I am not sure what year it is. It is a series one TT manual with hydraulic HICAS. It was a complete half cut including gearbox. They should have most of what you need for a manual conversion.
