This is the procedure to open the roof.

first undo the handles/clips that are under the roof (located above the door windows on both the passenger and drivers side) (best to do this with the doors open or windows down too)

then look next to your drivers side seat and you will see two buttons. (sit in the drivers seat and look over your right shoulder)

press the bottom button to release the rear part of the roof from the platform it clicks into (back of boot)

next lift up the rear part of the window that has been released and then press the top button (above the button you have just pressed) this will release the actual hatch the back part of the roof was sitting on.

slide that panel towards to boot and flick it up so it is open

next lower the back part of the roof so it is just sitting in mid air. grab the front part of the roof (you pulled the latches open above both the driver and passenger door window at the beginning) and pull it up and backwards so the roof starts to fold back.

fold it all the way back, the rear part of the roof/rear window will fold in half, make sure that you run your hand along the window so it bends in a smooth motion rather than crease. once the roof is sitting there push down slightly on each side until you hear a slight click. (push on the metal frame part of the roof that has folded, ie: the elbow part)

next its time to put the rear cover back on. tilt it forwards and move it towards the front. you will see one little wheel on each side of the lid. make sure that those wheels slide into the little tracks that are there. this will guide it into position

slowly slide it forwards until it closes. once closed again slightly push each corner down until you hear a click.

Cheers Naura , i actually don't mind the colour, the shiny metallic style browns look good if kept clean and shiny once they fade the look ( pardon the pun ) crappier , than other colours.

Erik .... after your first step, you forgot .... ".... release the hooks on the passenger and driver's side at the top of the windscreen .. ".

will not get far without releasing those ....

Steve ... a nice looking machine ... do not think that it is the Mr Zee machine I thought it might have been.

G'day Baz , the original owner was a guy in Moorooka i believe he was Greek, and then Ron bought it off him 5 years ago , done about 4 thousand k's in that time. Like all older cars that haven't been used much it needs a bit of TLC , will need the 100k service done soon. But in the meantime a tune , plus an interior clean , some scuff marks and front bumper work will do for the start.

    Just wanted to say congratulations!

Agree with QLRZDR in taking a pic of it before you start - even if its for yourself, because when you done, you'll feel a lot better yourself for doing a great job!

Anyway - congrats man - it sounds good!
You'll love cruising in the sun with the wind in your hair!

    Cheers

Baz, that is what my first step is saying. Those handles above the door windows releases those hooks at the windscreen.

What I did forget to mention though was that once you have folded the roof back, make sure you close those handles before sliding the rear deck lid down.

Well here is few more shots during the day at least the outside is washed and clean, but you can see what i mean about the interior needing some "professional " cleaning .

Good one Scotty, hope you got it for a good price.

When I saw the wheels I thought it was Mr Zee's old vert with the the 350Z wheels but I don't remember it having a beige interior.

Geez, looks pretty good! But since only time gets rid of smoke smell - give it a retrim!

G'day CARZ , oh yeah time and a bloody good steam clean and some cartons of Glen20 Extra strength lol lol . The easy part is cleaning the trim and carpet, it's actually getting the smell out of the a/c system and the vents. The actual carpet is in pretty good condition, it's more the mats and door trims.

But " Vertie "as i have named her, is over at the mechanics getting a RWC a once over and a tune and resetting of the Timing, cas and tps etc.

Nope, Karl .... Mr Zee's convertible was for sale, as a repossession, down here just before I bought mine in 2009.

It had not been looked after since sale and was a bit sad.

It had white leather interior and I do not think it had that rear wing.

Yeah I've seen this zed up for sale a few times now, I'd check to make sure the front end is straight as from what I remember the front end has been resprayed and the airbag wheel has been swapped for a non airbag wheel.

Yep front end is straight, BUT you are correct, the "airbag " has been replaced with a non airbag wheel , the a/b has been disabled and the wires are still there, just disconnected.

Okay my mechanic has had a quick look at this morning, and i can understand why he dropped the price 4 grand. In saying that it is a 23 year old car and will need work, but being a genuine 93 Convertible it's value can only improve. So it will be a bit of a haul getting her up too top notch condition.

    So far it will need

    Steering rack ends rebuilt
    Rear Main Seal
    Front brakes
A few bulbs tail light and reverse ones
A Radiator cap ( anyone got an old one laying around in Brisbane lol )
A new drivers side key barrel ( oops i twisted to hard )
Idle control valve ( anyone got a good 2nd hand working one )
Will need the 100k service done ( look out Coz)

:) Just an update on " Vertie ", got her back from the mechanics yesterday. Total bill $3674, just to get her roadworthy.

Now she has a legal working airbagged steering wheel, plus all the cut up wiring repaired or replaced, and a pretty blue led airbag light.

A fully rebuilt power steering rack ( pump, boots, ends all done ). New front rotors, pads, and calipers cleaned up.

    All faulty bulbs replaced.

Oh and the fun part, the engine at some stage has been replaced and NOBODY bothered too update the details for the rego's , and the " blue " import sticker is missing, so now too get QLD Transport too give me a new one.

:) It's getting there Baz, still need to clean the interior or just rip out the smelly sh*t and retrim it, in the same sort of material.

Then it's a nice set of 2k tail lights a 2k front bar, some nice rims and tyres. Also replacing that "pop riveted" fuel flap .

Then slowly work on a nice sound system and possibly a double din bezel .
