Don't know if it's the correct name. I need to replace front upper ball joints (that's how we call those in my country...) but I can't find them anywhere. Any hints? Here's a pick of my Z Just finished engine rebuild... thanks.
It doesn't actually have an upper ball joint. It does have what we call a King Pin bearing which connects the wishbone to the hub. Its a bastard to change and most people replace the entire assembly from a wreck as these do not wear out very easily. In fact In 10 years I haven't replaced one.
Thanks for the reply. I've found these: http://www.zspeedperformance.com/Nissan-300zx-Right-Front-Suspension-Knee-Member-54590-44p26.htm My car is 17 years old and the roads here are not the best...so it has a little play to it and needs to be replaced. Is there anywhere that I can find the King Pin Bearing? The entire new set would cost 314+shipping...so I'd rather go the hard way
And another question if I may... Does this control arm bushing go inside the metal instead of the rubber in the OEM bushing? http://www.z1motorsports.com/imagem...owercontrolarm (1).JPG&w=800&h=600&page=popup
Thanks! I bought used kingping set from z1 Just want to make sure... So these two: http://www.z1motorsports.com/popup_image.php?pID=7124&imageNum=1 http://www.z1motorsports.com/popup_image.php?pID=2440&imageNum=1 are the same but you have to remove rubber from stock round metal and put the new ones in for the second one, right? thanks...
No there different brands. The first one needs to be pressed in. The second one can be put in without a press . you don't need the stock metal tube as the bush is made larger to fit straight in the arm without one.
umm....here's something I got to share then....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNYKguKA0Ic&feature=youtu.be WTF is this? This is exactly what I ordered: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=2440
Are you talking about the same part? The king pin bearing is the ball joint at the other end of the control arm. Those photos and the part you bought are the rubber bushes at the chassis end of the lower arm/ I could have sold you a pair of good lower arms complete if that's what you needed.
No thanks I was referring to a different part. I already bought these: http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=1921 I also bought the above mentioned control arm bushings (in the video) which are way too small.
You leave the original bearing shell in the control arm. You just remove the rubber from the OEM bush. I drilled it all out on mine the cleaned it up with a file.
Energy suspension's website has installation instructions for them. They pretty much say what seven angry penguins did in regards to reusing the outer metal shell. http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=7.3108
Thanks guys! So it was the way I suspected...I need to keep the OEM metal shell and remove the rubber from the inside... thanks a lot!
