I've replaced my speedo, it still drops out. What's my next thing to check/replace?
It seems to sit at 10km/h most of the time, until it intermittenly decides to tell me what speed i'm going after i go up or down a hill or something. I'm not sure, but the power steering does occasionally go down too, and the odo doesn't work on the replacement speedo for some reason, (that's a new problem, it's probably just not plugged in)

Check/replace your Speed Sensor on the Gearbox.

    Is your Auto Or Man?

Manual, this'll mean an order to CoZ :(
Do you know of an Aussie supplier?

Yes, sounds like the plug has worked itself loose. Push it back in.

I did that awhile ago, I'll see if I can check again, I got my exhaust looked at and I went around unplugging and plugging things in.

There is an 8 pin plug down near your Drivers side headlight, make sure that is all clean of corrosion and making a good connection. Take the binnacle off the top of the gauge cluster and you will be able to look down at the back of your cluster, just be sure all the plugs are plugged in properly (I doubt its this, but maybe just check).

this is the first i'm hearing of this plug.
Is there any way to identify it?

Its called A4 and plugs to E35, its a grey plug down near your Drivers side Headlight

E35 has a the following wires:

    Green: Backup lamp
    Green w/white tracer: Backup lamp
    Yellow w/green tracer: Neutral Signal
    White w/red tracer: Alternator
    Blue: Vehicle Speed Sensor
Yellow w/blue tracer: Vehicle Speed Sensor

Note that the Yellow w/blue tracer VSS wire is Yellow w/green tracer from the VSS to plug A4 and then changes to Yellow w/blue tracer from plug E35.

So just be sure the Blue & Yellow w/black tracer are happy :)

Cool, gave it the beans of a clean. It only had seven pins in it though.
There was two two pin plugs that were an absolute mess right next to it too, I don't know what they do, any idea?
I'll take it for a test drive soonish.

Test drive complete, it still was stuttery and didn't work for the first few minutes. Then was jerky and slow to react to speed changes.

Check steering in tech section explains how to resolder speedo connections, common problem.

I already did that, I resoldered the connections on my old and and tried a 2nd hand one to the same thing.

Yeah one of those two pins missing is Oil pressure and something else that's U.S only...

The two other plugs near by... (Blue plug & black) is Alt. and starter motor. Yeah they put a heap of grease in to help with corrosion.

It's going to be your speed sensor bud. Sorry ;)

:( was hoping not, at least you gave me something new to try, (it seemed easier to start too, so that would explain that)

I'm in the same situation. Re-soldered my speedo twice now and no change, I also replaced the speed sensor with a brand spanking new one from COZ and still no good! Bought a whole new cluster from a member on here recently, yet to receive it but hoping it fixes this stupid problem.
