    Hell yeah

What?.. What part of this is not claimable!!! assuming you were insured for it. You gotta fight this one mate. Some turds trash
your car, busts the locks and sprays it with an extinguisher... Seriously, I am sick of hearing stories about insurance companies that don't pay up. The other boys are right, you gotta fight this.

Heck, I'll write letters or make phone calls for you mate!

Would like to know the reasons they cited for not compensating you. Surely if you're insured for theft, the car is stolen, and returned worse than it left, you deserve compensation. What the hell have you been paying premiums for? For this exact scenario. Them not paying is just a rip-off.

You are entitled to a claim

Jamersss, I don't know what your insurance arrangements are but if you were insured correctly etc, you are entitled to successfully claim for the damages.

You need to understand how insurance companies work - part of their strategy will always be to knock back a certain number of claims, immediately, as a strategy. Some consumers will let it rest at that, thinking they have no other option, and walk away.

By the sounds of it (You're a P Plater) I guess you're just a young kid (sorry not trying to be derogatory, but I am 48). You have every right to expect a payout for the damages. That's why you insure!!. Don't be scared to fight.. if you need help, there's plenty of people here (including my self) that would gladly lend a hand. Now you're going to do their job for them by bearing the expense of repairing your car.

There's a heap of options available to you in circumstances such as this. Up to you mate.

I thought you said yeah there was a mix up so they had you down for third party only but you had the letter confirming third party fire and theft? What is the change of story, what is the missing link here that you aren't telling us? What happened?

AAMI are very unprofessional, they are making the assumption that I am only insured for third party minus the fire and theft. This was originally the case until January this year when I changed to a policy with fire and theft due to my Z being back on the road again.

The arrogant $*($#$($*#$(* who opened my claim last Monday morning opened a claim on my old expired policy which is truly unbelievable and apparently outside the control of a floor manager. I have contacted AAMIs Internal Dispute and Resolution department and I am still awaiting a response from them (hassling every business day). I have also contacted the financial ombudsman as this is a peak time of year where I need my car to get places and AAMIs IDR are away on public holidays which delays the claim even more. Will keep everyone updated in regards to what is happening. I will make sure AAMI pay for the tow from its dumped location to my house also.

As for the 300ZX, it cranks after studying the wiring diagram to get the wires right and ECUtalk is reading everything as per normal.

UNBELIEVEABLE! Thanks guys for your continued support.

have you started cleaning it yet? depending on what fire extinguisher they used, the dust can be really corrosive to the metals/wiring and extremely hard to clean out of the fabric/carpet. it's probably all through your ventilation ducts too.
good luck with the insurance company but in case they don't honour your claim i'd start cleaning it asap.

I did go through and remove every trim piece and cleaned away. Armor All is all I used and the car has come up more cleaner than before the incident.

A view on Saturday morning.. What a big job ahead of me!

I also changed out my heater core which was a bonus, cleaned all the air ducts from the years of dust they had accumulated.

    A more better sight..

All the seats are now back in. I still need to give a final vacuum and detail but I will complete it once I receive the new locks + barrel. I fired her up today again and it looked like one of the coil pack connectors popped off. Gave me a scare but pushed it back down and she was running amazing!

Cudos to you for the hard work on restoring your pride and joy.
I have been following this since day one, and am glad you were able to get your car back in one piece.
With the cleaning your doing the car will come up better than before.
Really good to see the engine and body are in good condition.

Might be a good time to look into one of those small phoneable GPS trackers.
Good luck with the insurance Co

    Jamersss,
Great photos of the stages of cleanup.
These will be good to use when you claim against the insurance company.
I think this could be a (TV) current affairs lead story.
Don't let the insurance company get away with denying your claim.

Urg heard some really bad things about armor all, if you don't keep using it it corrodes / wrecks your shit, was a lawsuit against them which they actually lost, HOPEFULLY they have changed their product by now lol but yeah I haven't touched their stuff since I heard that.

Thanks guys! It has been some extensive efforts but she is finally getting to the end result..

Like everything when you take one step forward you also tend to take 2 steps back. I received the locks + ignition barrel today. Locks were a piece of cake to switch out but the ignition barrel surround (which surrounds the steering column) was just overkill. It took around 2 hours to get off those headless bolts with a punch, drill, hammer and flathead. It drove me insane but finally came off. When I was screwing the steering column back up I gave a bolt a little too much torque and this happened -

This really did my head in! Looks like I will need to pull the dash out again to fix it. OOlordy.

Other than that the new ignition barrel is all bolted up. Just waiting on the new ignition plug and it'll be back on the road!

Damn right! Solid clean and changing the heater core, way to make the best of a bad situation.
Sounds like you're doing all you can against the insurance company too.

    Smashin' it :p

If you are still fighting this with the insurance company (good on you) remember to record/log all your actions and keep all receipts. doind it yourself "may" open up another reason for them to deny your claim. I say this not as a slight on your skills, the job you are doing is great, but due to the fact they have already said no once, they may look for reasons to either short change you or reject the claim all together. Photos preferably with time stamps buddy and keep up the good work, hopefully they will pay up and you will be ahead.

No choice though. Left to sit in that state, it wouldn't be worth saving.
