Bilstiens are very good(depending upon which model you choose)but so are numerous other brands.
It really depends on what sort of usage you are going to want from your car.
More importantly, you need to have a balanced handling package(i.e. a good, matched set of springs/shocks on ALL four corners).
Handling happens on all four wheels(and tyres).:br::zlove:

    So, who recommended Bilstein's?
    Are they coilovers?
    Is the damper rate adjustable?
Do they come with springs, if so, what are the spring rates front & rear?
If they don't, what springs are you going to use, OEM springs?
    Do they need/include pillow blocks?

to follow on from the above themes, if you are not replacing all four and lowering/modifying the suspension from stock, a matched pair of shocks that are designed to be oem equivalent/replacment from any reputable brand.

Agree - suspension is a system and is only as good as the weakest part.

Bilstein is ok by most standards, but most of suspension reccommendations are just opinions and not based on facts.

Like east coast insinuates there is more to a coil spring strut than just a word/ or even type. What actually determines a good suspension is the little things you dont hear about - example the thickness of the metal wall of the gas shock - to thin and it can get damaged and ruin the whole strut - the type of damping system - such as is it gas / gas and oil/ two stage/ adjustable etc etc

The best way is to look at the specific model you are looking at then posting the details here as there is just too many variants out there in comparison.

I personally believe pillow blocks should be avoided at all costs - longer bolts needed means weaker components (thats a engineering fact) - but it also depends on use -. i.e. road use/ rally etc as to whether it would be fine.

There is a lot to suspension as its a sytem - the more you look, the more you will learn and the more of a black art you will then find it - and there is a lot of opinion.

So my advice is to use the collective here to assist you by posting specifics here first before paying any $$$$

    Cheers
