Im looking at getting the 300KM/H dials installed on my Z32, I dont personally feel comfortable doing it myself.

The only other place that I know of that specializes in Zeds is PZP and they have told me they wont screw with the dials, is there anywhere else that would be able to do this for me.

I want to grab all the parts I need, so I would like to know what type of resistor I need, Jaycar sell them I just need to know which one will display the correct speed.

Lastly, apart from the dials and resistor, is there anything else I would need to provide to a garage to have them installed?

Go to an instrumental specialist, its their job.

An easier option would be to buy a whole cluster with a 300km Speedo in it, and swap it straight over. Can even keep your original km's without issue.

Mate, do yourself a huge favour and grab a hold of Z-ster on this forum.

I did my 300km speed back around 2005 I think, NO ONE, no shop, no speedo specialists, no one wanted to touch my existing cluster.

I can see Z-ster is still active on the forum, grab him, talk to him. He did mine and it is dead on. When I got a GPS a few years later, my speedo is within 1km of the GPS at all times. The guys a mad genius, can't thank him enough, saved me a small fortune.

So he makes his own clusters with the 300KM speedo? Or you send your existing cluster to me modified?

Get the speedo and instructions and I can modify it for you. It's a no brainer. I did rovlive's for him.

Talk to him - he'll tell you how close I got it. From memory it was within 2 Km's (I think).

    So, it's 18K Ohm, but personally I would put in a 15K and a 5K linear trimpot.

I challenge any person that says you will get the exact value resistor for your specific car (taking into account all variables such as tyres, rim size and guage variation). The trimpot will allow adjustment to the exact Km/Hr (yes - your tyre wear will affect the EXACT value required, but that should be next-to-negligable).

Only way to do it is with a tiny variable resister and a gps to set it.

    That's what I said :) A trimpot is a variable resistor.

So if I managed to grab a variable resistor from Jaycar and the dials, is there anything else you would need and roughly how long does it take?

Wouldnt usually ask but as you know I use this as my day to day car so cant live without it for too long.

Soldering iron, solder, wire, heatshrink tubing, screwdriver, wire strippers, sidecutters, heat gun.

About 10 minutes to get the cluster out, (DON'T TOUCH THE BLACK PAINT INSIDE THE CLUSTER), another 5 minutes to get the old guage out, about 5 minutes to put the resistors in.
5 minutes to get the new guage in. Use enough wire to let you get to the trimpot with the cluster back together.
15 minutes to put it back together.
20 minutes driving around with the GPS and getting your passenger to adjust the trimpot. Adjust it at 100 Km/H.
Then take the cluster out again to remove the long lengths of wire. Finally put it back together the last time.
    Done.

Anyone know the difference between a J-spec and Aus-spec instrument cluster?

Both NA? No difference, so long as you are talking the same year.

I assume you cant remove the resistor without removing the dial needle?
