The Hitec NA ECU out of my red zed is for sale.

The unit originally came from JEDI-77's old NA which made over 150rwkw IIRC.
It has a reflashed ROM tuned for my NA which made 147rwkw.

My car has the below breathing mods:
    - Apexi power intake
    - Bored out throttle bodies to 55mm with match ported plenum
    - Stillen copy LHD NA headers (retained EGR and modified to fit RHD)
    - UAS X pipe
    - Magnaflow 200cpsi cats
    - Magnaflow mufflers
    - 2.5" mandrel bent system joining it all together

My zed is manual but the ECU will suit any NA zed, it will work in NA autos too as it also has the auto firmware since JEDI's old zed was originally auto.

    What you also get:
    - JDM 180KPH limiter removed
    - 7500rpm rev limiter

I'm in the process of selling my zed but the ECU is not required and I'm selling it separately.

    Asking $300 OBO.

Would I need the above mods to run this, if I get it, is it plug and play?

it's plug and play. you don't have to have all the mods but probably won't notice a great difference unless you have some breathing mods.

    Hi Mike,

I'm interested but don't understand if this is just a socketed ecu with a flashed EPROM or an actual aftermarket ecu? If so how is it better than a chipped standard ECU?

it's a chipped standard ECU. realistically for a street driven NA zed, aftermarket / chipped doesn't make too much difference.

So it's a standard ecu with a socket and an "hitec" eprom in it that was tuned for a specific car?

I already have socketed standard ecu, with a generic map off ebay (JWT) for $30. was this chip dyno tuned for JEDIs NA zed?

yes it was originally. then i purchased it, went to the same tuner and spent around 2 hours adjusting it to suit mine as my car has stock heads which flows less air than jedi's.

But it's not programmable, they just plug in an emulator and get the best maps etc, then burn that to an eprom and stick it in the socket.

I think that in this way, unless you have the exact same mods as it was tuned for, this ecu is no better than a standard socketed ecu, as it's assumed you will need to get a chip tuned for your specific car anyway.

yes hence i listed the exact mods i had. you would need these mods to get solid results from the ecu.

it is still plug and play in any zed. essentially you are paying for a socketed ECU with a rom tuned for a full list of NA bolt on mods.

in terms of whether or not it's better than a off the shelf ROM from the states. it is mainly because it's tuned locally running 98 aussie fuel. any rom you buy off the shelf is tuned for USDM zeds running their fuels with different ratings.
