Well my engine was a bit greasy and dirty so i used some degreaser and hosed it all off at my mates house. I drove home without any problems and the next day my car wouldn't start. It's just not firing... its actually ticking over but won't ignite. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this.
More then likely have wrecked some sort of electric component with the water. Best to start looking at coilpack connectors, coil packs, can't hurt to check your sparkies either. Just go through everything one by one until you find the problem.
but it wouldnt work from the get go.... bit unusual to hose an engine bay down... drive it... then it stops working... heat from driving it would have dried up all water but do agree its related
Almost had the same prob. Washed it out and couple of days later it started misfiring, tool it to the shop thinking it was serious but it was just water in one of the coil pack connectors :/ even with the heat and such it didnt dry it... Try and start engine and disconnect one coil pack at a time until one (when disconnected) doesnt change it's missfiring.
I degrase my engine every Sunday night at the car wash, after I do this I take it to the fuel station and use the flat tyre mode to blow all the water out of my electrics! Obviously I cover all I can with plastic bags ! Never had a firing problem in 3 months I've been doing it..
why? if you need to degrease your engine bay THAT often then i suggest you fix your oil leaks first :/ a simple wipe down should be enough
I frequent my local carwash to hang out with mates, the amount of times i see people shove the high pressure hose in their engine bay, then get the soapy brush in there.....
you did the usual fuse check? or there is water in all your coils packs lol....but..that should atleast give you some small sounds of life
I did the same a few weeks ago. Ended up I had to take all the coil connectors off, blow them out with a compressor. did that also to all the plugs and she started first off. Try that, also dry with air, all connectors at the back of the engine at the top, exspecially near the back to plugs. Best is to carefully take off the rear balance pipe, and that did the trick. Yje other members suggested that and they were right.
Did you try charging the battery/jump starting? Batteries do die/go flat sometimes, especially with weather changes, could be as simple as that/
Go to the super market and buy a 1 litre bottle of metho and a cheap squirter bottle. Put the metho in the squirter bottle then go stupid under the bonnet spraying all the connectors and also take the coil packs of the plugs and spray down the spark plug holes with the metho. Just go stupid with it. let the car sit over night then in the morning it should fire up . Make sure you don't smoke e.c.t
My bet us PTU or CAS related. Check for error codes and check plugs for both. It would make more sense for the PTU to be affected than all 6 coils
bit of an update here...i checked the fuses and even swapped them around to see if they're the problem but they're all fine. I took out one spark plug and its not even sparking at all. Is it possible that its the PTU causing problems because i know that i have the first design that was faulty. thanks for all your input!
Yes theres a chance thats the problem, have you removed the connecter to check for trapped condensation. Swap it out for a known good one
