well as the title says i have coolant leaking into the passengers side, just under the dash. i think i have a split hose or something that leads to the heater core. if any1 has had this problem or know what it is please let me know! thanks!
yep you need to bypass it, the two metal pipes at the back of the engine, connect them to one another until you can get around to fixing it properly. To replace the heater core is do able with dash in, I dont know about changing the core and the metal pipes associated with the core under the dash whilst the dash is in...
I have been there.... When i changed mine i took out my dash to realise that it really wouldent be that hard to change it out with out taking it all out. I reccomend reading up about it and avoid removing dash. tech section -> Ato Z index -> heater
It's do-able "dash in" if you have an auto(not so do-able if manual, as that requires removing the clutch pedal to gain enough space to pull the core out). 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage is the best replacement core(much cheaper than a NISSAN part)and is an identical part.
yep... I used a patrol one... because I had it laying around. New it would have been 250 bux. Must be a common size.
Are we 100% sure the fluid on the passengers side is actually coolant? It could be the drain hose from the AC that has separated. Happened to me once. Doesn't the drain tube for the T-Tops run down the passenger's side footspace as well?
i was backing out of my driveway, which is on a hill, and had coolant flood down all over my feet...wasnt pleasant, just bypassed it and havent had another problem
There's two pipes at the back of the engine feeding into the firewall. Undo and remove the hoses and join the two metal pipes with a hose like this:
