    Hey Zedders,

Thought I'd make a thread regarding my Z that I've just recently lost..
Story goes - green light on my end, 60km/h. Car in the middle is waiting
for me, she's meant to give me way - last minute as I come close to her
car, she slams right into me.. cops say its her fault and so did many
witnesses so yeah, waiting on her insurance to ring me and details about
    the condition of the Z.

I'm really depressed over this, because the night before the crash I really
cleaned her up real good and when I saw my Z all clean and shiny again
and really clean inside and nice I'm like.. I'll reconsider the sale, I want to
keep my Z for as long as I can.. then next morning, this shit happens..
Cried in the street looking at the damage, everyones telling me its most
likely a pay-out and they're not going to try fix her up. Feel so dead
inside, don't really have much friends who understand what its like to own
such a car and know that feeling of loss (with a car) or they dont really
understand my attatchment with her (including people close to me) who has
no ****ing clue what its like to lose your pride and joy in an instant,
thought I'd come here to tell the guys who do understand.

I have some photos for you guys - I took some photos after I cleaned
her up and just before I left before the accident, and at the bottom is
    the end result..

So yeah.. that's the story guys. Depending how much I get back from
insurance company, not sure how much... anyone have an idea..??
Do you guys think this is fixable..??? Possibility of insurance company
fixing this for me..?? I know it will probably take a miracle, I miss her
like crazy can't even focus at work it's really hard to sleep, just wish
one morning I wake up and she's parked all nice and good in the driveway..

After doing the NA > TT conversion, all I had to do was fix the tailshaft
and change to a TT fuel pump to complete the conversion, as well as
upgraded brakes and some other minor things not worth mentioning..

Feel really empty, driving a 'normal' car doesn't do it for me, doesn't carry
a special history like the Z does. Looking on these photos already makes me
tear up - alot of people tell me to get over it since its just a car, but
when no one was with me when I needed, the Z was always there for me
to go for a nice long late night drive together till' I felt better, don't really
have that comfort anymore.. some people even laughed at my loss, piss
    me off..

For those who read through all this wall of text! Thanks and I hope some
members here understand what this situation is like, just wanted to share
it and put it out there ,that's all..

Look after your Z's on the road guys and girls, never know when someone
might just slam into you randomly at the most unexpected times, everything
was just instant so keep an eye out on the road.

sorry for the lost man, i know what its like and how it feels to have your zed towed away on a trailer never to be seen again in bits...

    things will get better...

.... how ever in saying that "cant focus on work, hardly sleep",

you do know its just a car.... :S

Having crashed mine i get where you are coming from, its hard but yoiu really do have to remember its a piece of metal. Chin up, may be a blessing in disguise(you were looking at selling yeah?).

Almost anything is repairable however realistically having an '89 zed with what looks like rad support damage insurance will likely just write it off.

Hey Andy, fully understand how you feel about your pride & joy. Few Z32's get repaired by insurance companies now... most likely you'll get offered a payout. After you negotiate & agree on a payout figure (don't just accept what they offer), perhaps then negotiate to purchase the car off them for next to nothing! You could then part it out as the VIN will be recorded as a write-off & start on a new project. Might as well try & make the best of a bad situation. Best of luck champ.

    Look on the bright side...

U were going to sell your zed for $3500 or less...

Your payout will be close to 7k... Buy the car back from the insurance company, part some bits out and keep the goodies for the next zed!

Win win for u I reckon...

Thanks guys, yeah I guess the payout part would be a win-win since I was going to
sell it, but I wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it like I did not see it
    smashed before me that's all..

Loudnproud, thanks man yeah the Z has been towed away many times lol but this
time most likely for good - and yeah I guess it is just a "car" it just holds special
memories for me, guess I can try make new ones with the next car :) I have to
remind myself its "just a car" sometimes

SedatZX - LOL crack up, thanks for that man lol but yeah, didnt work! Haha need
    to try something else!

Will try to make the best out of this like Super-Z said, guess I'm a little sentimental
towards my car, can't help it though lol will keep trying to stay positive about it!

mate the buy back should be less than 1K and go to a panelbeater seriously most will just porta power back out and get the chassis rails checked, all the rest just bolts back on guards bonnet etc front bar

Hey Romonski, the project I had going - I sold the wreck to someone and used that
cash to convert my NA to TT cos I didnt want to lose my current Z.

Now I've lost two Z's lol

Seriously? : O under 1K to buy it back? How much do you think it would cost to
repair something like this though? By looking at it and taking a guess - everything after
the radiator is bent downwards, I could see the tubes going to radiator / engine are
slightly bent but radiator seems intact - the car drove and sounded fine...

The chicks car couldnt even start or move in neutral.

Mate, I understand. I once got a bit choked up watching a faithful old corona being trailered away. On the plus side, your Z actually looks repairable to me.

Yeah it is repairable.....good news i guess

Looks like the bumper caught most of the damage there... there could be structural damage (still repairable, just costly and time consuming)... but I doubt it. I'd say that's one hell of a lucky hit. Looks bad, but, new bonnet, front left panel, nose panel and bumper + headlight and I suspect you'll feel a lot better. Worse comes to worst, 6-7k payout = instant TT with no more needing to be done.

Also, you left the other car undrivable? This + the red zed crashing through the front of that house both surprise me. Tough old things. Good to know.

At the end of the day, if you love that car to tears, then stand by it. Get a cheap daily if need be and bring her back up to scratch, it'll feel twice as good driving it afterwards.

Mate, if that was still able to be driven after the accident, then it's not as bad as it looks(mostly cosmetic damage, body panels etc.). Get it looked at by someone in the repair industry for some advice on how bad it(may/may not)actually be.
Hope it all works out OK for you in the end(I know how attached you can become to some cars).:zlove::zlove:

Thanks guys for the cheer up :)

I get a quote sometime next week on my Z, then the insurance company is gonna
take a look at it to assess it and figure out what to do then.

I went down to go see how the car was, under the bonnet and all - but the damn
body shop was closed even though they said they open till' 12 :( will check it out
during the week! Hopefully the insurance will repair it for me.

Will keep you guys updated on this situation as it unfolds.
    Thanks for the support :D

You are in Victoria correct? if so I thought they recently change to no repairable writeoffs, if so then once it is written off you will have to part it out, hate to say it but we just had a VX poverty pack written off because it had a monaro bonnet and a SS bar on it and the insurance were not prepared to pay out, (and the car had litteraly just been put back on the road as it was a repairable writeoff, some arse stole the bonnet and smashed the grill in the process and we had to go through the whole system again, as stated it looks easily repairable but I would not rely on the insurance repairing it.

Sorry to see you lost your baby Andy.
Had that when we decided to scrap the corolla panel van.
It was a part of our young family as we were growing up. Has a soft spot for that car.

As the others have said watch the insurance mob.
Get a nice straight/good paint body NA and swap all the goodies over.
Keep or sell would then be the decision.
