hey guys i have been trying to source the cause of the vibration in my car. i have the series 1 ptu but the car is not misfiring at all. power output is fine. i have had all the wheels balanced and aligned so its not the wheels. i have replaced the center hanger bearing and had the uni joints looked at. they were fine. the drive shaft had been balanced by previous owner. when i rev the car in neutral it still vibrates and when parked. when rolling down a hill with no acceleration it still vibrates. the vibration can mostly be felt in the seat. and a little bit through the steering wheel. others have told me that i need to replace the transmission mount as it wears over time. been 20 years old or so. so im going to replace that and if that doesn't fix it im stumped. will i need to get the drive shaft rebalanced after the trans mount has been fitted? what else can cause this vibration? cheers

    1: Tail-shaft imbalance.
    2: Transmission Mount.
    3: Engine Mounts.
4: Any combination of the above(although Tail-shaft would seem to be ruled-out by your comment re "revving in neutral").

lets just hope its the trans mount for all times sake. i went into a tech and he told me that the engine mounts are $650 each!!!!! i almost had a heart attack.

hmm im not too sure if it is the engine mounts because wouldn't i notice it rocking around...? i have listened closely while driving(slowly ofc lol) and the noise of the vibration comes from the gearbox area. so im just hoping that changing the tran mount will solve this annoying problem.

DinoZ Talks sh#t for a living.

Vibrating while parked means its unlikely to be the tailshaft, more likely trans mount and engine mounts.

Also check that you haven't got part of the exhaust system hitting against the under body or cross-member.

Less likely, could be a crook harmonic balancer.
