I have a problems with my 300zx auto N/a with the steering when its cold.
I can be driving along and it suddenly pulls to the left and sometimes to the right. The steering alson has a tendency to go very light and sometimes very heavy. I replace the steering pump about 5 months ago. Anyone got any ideas on whats going on?

Had the same issues with mine when replacing PS pump with a chrome plated unit.
    Diagnosis was either:-
    A. Had some sh$t in the lines, blocking it up
    B. Used the wrong type of fluid. Initially used some fluid with a built in stop leak. Much greater density than normal. Manual recommends using Auto Transmission fluid.

FINALLY overcame this with the following procedure:-
    a. Full test of PS Computer. Couldnt locate the "Check connector" in the manual, so tested at the computer itself (located UNDERNEATH the ECU, passenger side footwell)
    b. Removed PS Solenoid (located at the steering rack, driver side). Cleaned out, tested voltages at connector, as per manual, to check no break in wiring. Blew out Solenoid.
    c. Disconnected ALL lines to reservoir, pump, and hardlines at rack. Removed entire assembly, unbolted the switch from the line (looked to be pressure sender switch, but couldnt locate in manual) Blew out all lines.
    d. Blew out rack until no fluid came out.
    e. Pulled down pump again. Ensured rebuild kit was installed correctly and re-installed. Make sure that it is assembled correctly. If internal parts- rotor, vains, cam ring are not installed correctly, then the pump will not operate properly. Check that the control valve and spring arent blocked either.
    f. Degreased reservoir and blew out.

Re-assembled, filled with auto transmission fluid, bled as per manual- wheels off of ground, turn left then right repeatedly, monitoring fluid levels till they dont drop anymore. Then started car and performed the same procedure.

Either ONE, or a combination of a few of those steps gave me my PS back. A LOT of cursing, swearing etc involved also.

Also, is your speedo working correctly? The PS computer gets an input signal from the speedo, which controls the level of Power assisted steering the car has based on speed.

    Have fun :)
