That looks amazing Dino....best standard turbo's i've even seen!!! I was actually looking at your thread this arvo and was goin post for an update...where are your heads???
Already done Where's all the pics of the heads and bottom end being assembled??? Will be sending you a pm Dino:zlove:
Sorry no pics of the earlier assembly work. Was too busy making sure I didn't leave something out, and constantly checking the FSM for torque settings.
Oops! Could have been the start of a mutiny there. For those who have been patiently waiting . . . . . . . . . . .
Looking the goods Dean, will have to come have a look soon. (side note..went up to the goldcoast today to put a kitchen in today..long day) Cheers Patrick
3M Engine Enamel, rated to 300 degrees C, but I have ceramic coated the manifolds, turbos and dumps which will send a lot of the heat down the exhaust pipes (which have been lagged)
Hopefully it holds up. I did the extractors on the V8 in flame proof paint that was supposed to be good for 900deg+ and it started to flake off after only a few k's.
Crispy , i always used to pre heat the manifolds before applying paint and it never came off. Cheers Patrick
Probably too much expansion and contraction in your extractors for the paint to hold. Or are you running that much timing that they start to glow? I remember how much cooler Karl's engine bay is due to the ceramic coating, so pretty confident the paint will be OK, but I guess time will tell.
They were a bit big to fit in the oven Well it was called extractor paint on the can Fingers crossed it will be fine for you.
Sandy hasn't been impressed this last few weeks with rocker covers, brackets, headlights and whatnot all going in the oven for curing.
This time I remembered to take a pic before the heatshields went on. A 20 year old turbo scrubs up pretty well with new CHRA and ceramic coating of both housings. Before: After:
Sandy and I will be there but unfortunately the Zed won't be. Engine and tranny now complete but not yet back in. Still to clean and paint engine bay, fit new rack bushes and boots, front & rear wheel bearings, suspension bushes, mount wideband O2 and gauge, run new lines to rear mounted oil cooler, refit dash, install 7" touch screen stereo, new windscreen & rego. The list seems to be getting longer instead of shorter.
