Why mod an N/A?

    I agree in part. THe NA is a CRUISER not a 1/4 mile bruiser

    BUT... "I love picking out NA versions of jap sports cars and destroying them with my Fords" ???????

    140rwkw is bugger all when you're pushing a car the weight of a small planet

    The Ford (and I have a midly modded AU Falcon myself) is a bus. It's "power" is aimed at towing trailers and boats.

    Don't kid yourself that you are "destroying" the leighter jap cars. Maybe...just maybe they weren't running against you?

    BUt to swing back the other way though.... I DO also think that "Aussie Mussle" is where the smart money goes so long as you're happy only winning till the first corner.

    Nothing wrong with modifying any car, unless you cutting springs and what not.

    uhm my NA Honda Prelude (read 2.2 4 cyl) used to beat ef xr6's even on the straights. Through any corner they were terrible. Fun but terrible.

    But I agree that any car is worth modifying if you like it enough, espeically NA zeds

    Because an NA zed is a classic sports car, modding a ford is polishing a turd. :rolleyes: Not everyone mods cars to run down a strip, ever heard of classic sports cars? 4cyl MG's, Triumphs, Jaguars ect? its because they're classy. They also increase in value as time passes unlike a falcon.

    I mod a 1963 Triumph TR4, its slower than your falcon, handles worse and is rough as guts but its worth over 30k. ;)

    people talk about Falcons and Commodores and call them Falcodores but if you really want to know why some people dont like them it is because if you take the first four letters of the Commodore and the last two of the Falcon and put them together you get exactly what the cars are ( common ), When you buy a zed it will turn heads and people say, that is a nice car and not something like, it's just another _________ :D

    I see no point how the various groups of car enthusiasts all fight amongst each other about who is better, we should all be on the same side, considering we're all for the same cause. We've got a common enemy, which is the Australian Government and the public, with their unfair laws in some cases and the public and media branding us in with "hoons" rather than "car enthusiasts".

    Who cares if you like Falcons/Commodores/300ZX/Tata Nano, if you like playing with cars then I consider you one of us.

    The real issue is its op's chopped this out of the original thread and pasted here so it continued to be a spot for bruised egos to bitch and moan.

    Agreed, its a discussion few members can have seriously. Some valid points have been made but it seems it is just a spot for bruised ego's to vent.

    On another note, my NA would kill any old E series falcon you can throw at it and it is not chipped and virtually unmodded except for EGR and AIV deletes. I have done this Many times over against modded falcons and BOMBodores. The reason for this is how light my car is (being a slicktop and not targa).

    EL xr6 stats:
    NA 300zx Stats
    So as you can see the falcon (even a late model EL) is actually lighter. I find it surprising so many people blindly assume their Jap cars are light weights.

    I have raced 3 NA mark 4 supras (my old town had a hard on for them) in my EF (pre mods) and beat them with ease each time, admittedly not by much but I got out in front each time and kept it. Stop and rolling starts. They were my friends cars so many many races were had, not just a ohh someone at the lights.

    Not a claim, just daily fact.

    My NA slicktop is just over a thou kilo according to the TARE.
    Not sure on the KW rating and I havent had it Dyno'ed But I think they were in the 170ish range somewhere (someone correct me if im wrong)

    So half a ton lighter with more power? . . . . the maths does itself.

    Anyway here is the comparision for an auspec 300zx:

    so frankly their basically the same spec give of take a few kw/nm/kg's for a straight line the added torque the BBM (Broad Band Manifold) gives the I6 the ford will win every time, come to a race around a track the superior handling of the zed it would win every time.
