i dont expect it will be that simple, except for the fact that there is one turbo instead of 2, the turbo may be more easy to replace but id say the exhaust manifold would be difficult.

especially if it means relocation of the battery to the boot which needs to be done properly since you dont want those battery gasses floating around in a hatchback

I assumed tom was talking about a NA to turbo upgrade?

no i would say tt-t, for NA to put a decent turbo on and thus decent power would need stronger internals.

if you had a kit with battery removal as part of it you could do abit, remember with a custom plenum you gain a few inches under the bonnet for piping and such.

If your smart with the piping you can do ok.

The problem I can see is just the v-ness of it....

IE say turbo is where the battery currently is on the passenger side, the exhaust to drive it would have to come up from the passenger, through turbo and out again.... thats fine...the exhaust from the drivers side how ever will have to come up over, behind or infront of the engine then link with passenger side.

Nissan spent how much designing the Z32?
It's been out there in the modifying world for 20 yrs
If it really was a good idea for whatever reason to mod it to a single turbo setup there would be kits available everywhere. Nismo, HKS,JUN, Z1, Coz, Stillen the list goes on but strangely no kit from any of them - I wonder why.

Yes you will find lot of people are potentially interested. Just very few would have the cash to buy and install them unless you can keep your product really easy to install and very cheap. Also we can engineer the turbochargers to suit your manifold, wastegating, dump, water and oil feeds if needed.

Like many of the others, I'd take it if it was a very large turbo and available for NA motors pretty cheap. Sounds too good to be true though huh? :) Good luck mate

I think that NA'ers would love something like this but i cant see many people wanting to swap out 2 turbos for 1 turbo, even if its a big ass turbo wouldent there just be more lag?

on a side note, ide love a supercharger kit for people who already have TT setups, sounds crazy but the ls1 boys are already starting the trent of twin turbo + superchrager, we should keen up to this :D

something like an m90 kit maybe? this would get rid of the annoying plenum setup too right? im not sure how annoying and difficult it would be to do this but ide love it :D

How do you figure fitting a single turbo to an NA motor would be any more feasible than fitting manifolds/turbos/dumps/intakes etc from a TT??

agreed ..compression on a N/A is too high and would have to change pistons to run any decent boost. at least with a TT motor it can be bolt on without opening the motor.

if you are thinking of adding a single turbo to a N/A then you should of bought a TT in the first place :p

I'd be interested in a Single turbo kit for when i drop a DETT into my NA.

I don't see any problem or even difficulty in modifying a VG30DETT Z32 to a single turbo, VG30DET.

You wouldn't have to relocate much at all, have the turbo on the passengers side, and it wouldn't even be a motor out job to replace the turbo.

If anyone has any reason why the radiator or anything major has to be modified let them speak. :p

a turbo will fit where the battery goes, but good luck getting a decent turbo manifold setup, decent sized dump, routing the hot side of the compressor housing to the front of the car and feeding the turbo with fresh cool air. It's a big head**** for no real reason

NA engines have weak wrist pins that fail after 350whp.

i dont see what the deal is. I have a tt motor with single turbo on it from a det motor. Its easy. Works great and im sure it would fit in a zed bay. All it does is replace your stock passenger side turbo with a bigger one. Basickly any way. And i had this same setup on a na motor. Made good strong power on 11 psi. It did blow up but that was from 2gear limiter around qr with no water in the radiator. And it lasted 3 days like that. Weak motors not really. High comp yep but you can tune around that and use it to your advantage
