Well, i suppose you might be able to use THIS thread as an example... Even though they are new - but they're not Garretts though.

So end of the day, these T28 turbos will require clocking and mods to plumbing etc to fit - and they're second hand (granted they've done low km's), BUT they're not very suitable for a stock internaled Zed due to the big zorst housings.

I would consider looking to sell them to SR20 forums as they're more suitable for them. and you may get a better guage on price there aswell...

The T28s I have, have been fitted to a 300zx already so already modified to suit, they also came with custom made 5 bolt dumps.

There is a dyno sheet in this thread, doesnt make 11 psi till quite late and not a whole lot of power?

As you can see in the pics of the turbos they don't have anything stamped on them so I doubt they are garrets?

I beleive the turbos would need to be modified to be able to suit a SR20 again?

The other thing that has me confused is as you can see in this picture the compresser housing is only slightly bigger than stock.

I had Stretch bring one of his his GT28R turbos over to compare and his compresser wheel is monstrous compared to mine, exhaust housing was same size but my exhaust wheel was much larger.

I think I will have to go to a turbo shop and have a chat to find out exactly what I have got and he'll probably be able to give me an indication of what they're worth hopefully

Hmm, i see no garrett stamps on them (or otherwise). I smell Bok-Choy with those T28's!

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

but how much does that cost? are you able to say?
    PM if you cannot.

why not spend the money and get the head worked whilst he already has the 28's?

See Hypergear's FSBB thread, i think (from memory) he charges around $700 per turbo for the high-flow upgrade which is quite economical IMO, considering it's a direct bolt-on mod.

dude stop guessing what turbos you have and just take them to a turbo shop and have a chat to them in person.

they will know what turbos u have. they will know if they are in good condition.

get a quote on how much it is to get a smaller exhaust housing.

and tell them if they are worth sticking with, or if u should just get highflowed.

    they will know.

    Hey Benny,

Pretty sure if you ask Hypergear, they are built to GT28RS spec. The cores are not Garrett? ATR cores?

At least that's the impression I got... I could be wrong tho...

to fit some 0.64 exhaust housings to those t28 turbos will cost you about $600-800 the pair completed...

you could even go smaller to 0.46 but remember more response means they will run out of puff sooner up top. hence larger will have less response but wont run out of puff so soon up top....

    i think stock is 0.63 or 0.64 ???

but if your turbos you have are ball bearing personally i would stick with them and do the exhaust housing change over

There are 2x types of Garrett BB chras. One is the GT28R, this has S15 T28 turbine, the other one which we built for Benny is in the spec of GT28RS Discopotato. The 2860R will not produce the same amount of power or torque as the 2860RS. The 2860RS worth about $300 more then the 2060R, But do pay that $600 and get the RS spec.

We do sale and built with original Garrett BB CHRAs if customers requires to build in it. Most of our builds are done in idential spec using ATR shaft and wheels with Garrett sleeve bearings.

    bugger

Well I just got back from turbo shop and was told that these turbos with the .86 housings wouldn't make any usable boost till after 5000rpm and if I was gonna up redline to like 10k then they may be useful, otherwise they'd be no good for anything other than maybe the drags...

.64 housings gonna set me back about $500 each so thats $1000...

He also wasn't impressed with the quality of the turbo and advised me to buy some garrets (he's a garret supplier )

So now I gotta find myself $1600 and get hypergear to highflow my stockies and get myself some decent flowing 4 bolt dumps...

Anyone wanna buy some turbos or custom made 5 bolt dumps???
