    The inside

is black already, I've pulled them apart because they dont match any of the other lights, si had a go at and gave up (girly effort si) I'll be chroming the insides of them, and fitting a park light, so that the car is road worthy, because atm the front has no parkers, and i dont want to use the fog lights as parkers like some have.

course they can be pulled apart, its just tar which is melted with a heat gun and pry'd from some of the tabs in place... comon si you should know that

    Moving right along

So I've opened the blinkers from a 2k bar, there now spotlessly clean of the black crap nissan used to hold them together, I literally bathed them in petrol to get it of, lenses everything came out in perfect nick, and like i said spotless. So today I painted the inside of the housings, first with etch primer, and then three coats of gloss black engine enamel, gloss black under chrome gives it a nice lustre, so I'm told. The main reason I'm going to all this trouble, is so i can fit a parker light to make the car road worthy (the way the 2k blinkers are setup they cant be both, its one or the other) and at the same time clear and chrome the indicator bodies so they match the rest off the front ends lights, but there was a problem, because to fit a second light or lights( I was thinking 4 white 5mm leds in series powered by the parker circuit, and use the amber blub that came with the lights as the indicator) I'd have to drill the holes in the housings to fit led clips, led clips are are hollow naturally so you can put a led in them, so that would mean unless I somehow sealed them of, so water couldn't get into the housings and screw everything, I'd have to come up with another plan, and I did. Its a little involved and a bit fiddly, not that that matters to me, I quite like doing this sort of thing. First I scoured the net looking for a double filament 1157 bulb (the park and blinker lights on front of our cars use 1157 bulbs but they're single filament
and have a single pad socket, that would have to be changed to a double) that could miraculously flash amber for the turn signal wile still putting out a white light for the parker, that was never going to happen, but i stumbled on something that could, and what was even better it was designed for the exact job I was trying to do. I'll post the full details on that when I get all back together and working, needless to say these are truly trick. Like I said the front lights (blinkers parkers) are single pad 1157 and the socket or base is 2 wire, to get the new lights to work I'd need a double pad 1157 3 wire, so of to the wreckers to snap up a few doubles, and yes there were plenty to be had, but none of the sockets had the rubber seal like nissan uses on there sockets and I could see daylight through all of them, and there's a lot of every kind of model year car at p.a.p wreckers from pre 70's to now, so even if I could use them they'd still leak water in, and It turned out I couldn't use them even if i wanted to because none of them had the right space between the the locking lugs and there bases, they were all to narrow and the 2k housing has quite thick plastic, so there was only one thing to do, build one to suite that was water proof, which i did.

You can see the single nissan pad socket and either side are doubles from the wreckers.
    [IMG][/IMG]
Here I've removed the metal jacket from a nissan 1157 single socket ,its about to be modified it to suite a double pad globe, the locking tabs are a different hight on the doubles.
    [IMG][/IMG]

In this shot I've removed the double pad from a socket i got from the wreckers, you can see the locating tab on the side.
    [IMG][/IMG]

You only have to dremal one side of the metal holder to get the bulbs lug to fit.
    [IMG][/IMG]
With the globe locked in position, I've marked where it's contact pads are, then its only a matter of laying the donor sockets pad over the marks to get an Ides of where to cut the slot for the locating tab.
    [IMG][/IMG]
Here's the nissan sockets metal body with the 2 wire pad and slot cut for the locating tab installed.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    The finished 3 wire sockets.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Unlikely to leak.

    The front

blinker sockets bulbs are actually 1156 with a single contact pad not 1157 double contact pad like I've been saying, I've changed them to 1157's.
I always get that wrong:eek: the guide below from osram specifies light bulbes that are not on my car where they say they are. Maybe it applies to american delivered zeds.

cant wait to see these on the car. i don't like the smoked look and this should look much better.

just one thing mate... you can just paste the photobucket code directly, the excess brackets make the posts look messy.

    How do i

do that? when i click the insert image button in the reply pain here, i always clear that, is that what you mean, or do i do it at the host,P/B. Those IMG things never showed, when i used Mustang mods.

You only need to click the image button if its just an address which automatically inserts the address into the post with [IMG] tags either side of it. When copying the address from photobucket or other host sites, they already include those tags in the address text you copy, so you simply paste it into the post text.

Here's an example of what it should look like (I added spaces in the tags to stop the code accepting them)

Here's what an image in your post text will look like

    Hope that helps :)

    Nice work, looks great.

When you say you chromed the rear parts, did you actually have them plastic chromed or just sprayed them with chrome paint?

Either way, the end result looks pretty good.

paint from a spray can over gloss black from a can Ben.

    Quick tip

If anyone's thinking of doing the chrome thing, when I comes time to seal the reflector back into the housing, use selleys all clear for that job, and make sure the grove is well coated in chrome paint, All clear turns translucent, like glass you can see through it.

Woow... excellent write up mate. Thinking about doing same to mine but with LED's as a type of marker light!
