    hey all,
i know how much people must be sick of these questions as they are on here all the time but i have a turbo that i havent seen in any of the help questions.

I looked through the tech help and previous posts, but yeah couldnt find any help, was wondering if anyone could help me.

I have 2 turbos that are used on mac trucks but yeah i was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to connect this to my 300zx. I have a blown head gasket so i will be taking out the engine and gearbox and yeah thought i would upgrade the turbo's as i have tem out anyway.

Here are the pics of the turbo which may help with the advice, i think they are T04 turbos.

lol is this a joke? Where are you going to fit them and do you have ANY supporting mods to make use of two massive truck turbos?

You are not going to physically fit them in the car. There simply isn't enough space, you could look at mounting them up high and further forward but realistical it is not going to happen.

Thats without even getting into whether they are suitable for the engine, which I very much doubt.

pair of dodgy truck turbos - free
paying workshop to replace headgasket - $2000
custom manifold for high mounted T04 truck turbos - $1500
1st run -> massive lag -> few seconds of power followed by knocking noises -> time for another motor - priceless

... i remember back in the day when turbo's were alot more expensive than today, people used to fit truck turbos to VL's and... yeh just VL's... lol

Good results on a straight six... but remember a big turbo on a 3 cylinder bank aint gonna do much, if anything.

lol crazy mofo. Do it anything possible. Cut your rad support and put your rad on an angle and have big single just behind it. Go on be differant.

well thanks for all the support... kinda...

i didnt think it was possible... and thought i would just check!

guess the truck turbos will have too much lag and i will have to look at purchasing some more realistic turbos...
thanks for the advice.. however sarcastic and abusive..
    peace to all

how did you come across two truck turbos anyway? Just go over to your car and try to visualize both of those suckers fitting under the bonnet :p Could do some serious work and convert to a single turbo dyno queen i guess

ummm... just came across them through a friend that couldnt use them....
i was wondering wat would be a good upgrade for a turbo... i know thats such an open ended question...but yeah looking for your experience. Ill have the engine out but im looking for a nice mid range up grade, and if possible, a close swap. I know that you have to modify the exhaust on most of them,... are there any upgrades that you dont have to?

Was just thinking ( i know it usually ends in disaster ) but be kind. This is only a idea ( may be dumb , maybe brilliant l.o.l ). How would 1 or 2 turbo's go mounted further down the exhaust ? you could use a single exhaust for one big mother.Just think of the extra room under the bonnet. O.k flame away

not sure if i've seen a rear mount turbo on a 300zx before. People do it though to other cars. I think the main problem is routing all that extra piping back under the car to the engine. You think the engine bay is cramped, check out the underside of the car :p

rear mounted turbos are more of a conversion option for bigger NA motors that aren't as bad off boost so lag isn't much of a issue. of course unless that motor has some strength to it you can't run anything too big anyway and it just boosts the midrange and becomes a restriction at the top. might as well just wack in a supercharger and it's gonna be 10x easier.

that much extra piping on a low compression turbo motor is gonna make it a bit of a pig with slow pickup.

I've seen a rear mount turbo on a NA Zed. Was a R33 Turbo, done absolutely ghetto spec, blew up 3 months later.

I think I made a thread about it...

And those turbo's you have, I have one similar that I want to stick on my V8, and here you are wanting to stick 2 on a VG :p

I'm a big fan of the 600R kit by Z1, mmmmm boost

They are T04E Turbochargers. rated to about 500HP each. They are good for a VL turbo or some thing above 2.5L in size.

You can not run simultaneous twin with them on a 300ZX. Unless you go through the touble to make your car single turbocharged with external gate.

I agree with ezzupturbo, be different and use the Mack truck turbos.
But these accessories are a must if you're going Mack-spec.

A bonnet emblem to replace the Z badge with -

Or maybe a complete new centre panel -
