I can't find the torque specs for the 2x 14mm nut/bolt for the starter motor. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
cant tell you the torque but it will be less than you think for the bolt one. they are known for stripping the threads. Loctite will be your friend on this
Just looked up the manual specs. 49nm for auto 39nm for the top 49nm for the bottom on the manual If anyone found the specs different feel free to advise.
Where did you find that? I couldn't spot them in the starter motor section or the manual trans section?
I found those specs under both auto and manual sections There's a photo of the bell housing with all the torque specs next to it. Under removal?
Ok that's my bad, sorry for the false information. That's what assuming does (ass out of you and me) That photo is how most rwd cars are bolted on for the starter, and I assumed it was the same here.
just loctite them and nip em up mate. the stud one u can do a bit more, the bolt one dont reef it tight as it might strip. the torque spec is not as important as the fact that it doesnt come loose
The top one is 49Nm the bottom which is threaded into alloy is 40Nm. Rule of thumb for this engine is . " IF ITS THREADED INTO ALLOY ITS 40-45 Nm" This is especially true for the water pump even though its threaded into steel the pump housing bends outward and leaks if you tighten it too much.
My opinion may be redundant now but I was going to say 40Nm too, so sick of finding all the bolts that some over-compensating wrench monkey has mashed into cast aluminium.
