For those who have a faulty Speedo and wish to attempt a repair. In many cases you will find the cause of your problem will be due to electrolytic capacitors having dried out. They don't always exhibit signs of swelling. These capacitors use of a dielectric paste between layers of conductive foil. When the paste dries out the value of the capacitance changes and affects the behavior of the speedo. The following list are the capacitors needed to repair:- 1 x 2.2uF 50V electro 1 x 1uf 50V bipolar electro 4 x 4.7uf 50V electro 1 x 10uf 16V electro 1 x 1000uf 16V electro The above can be purchased from Altronics, Element14 or Jaycar for about $6.00 total. Its ok to use higher voltage rating Note. These capacitors have their legs clinched. Using a fine pair of side cutters to cut off the solder and clinch prior to desoldering will make the removal of the component easier.
Nice one mate, thanks for taking the trouble to post. I've saved it for future use What year is your Zed? Nissan might have changed things after they built your car.
