How many different options were available for US market, compared with JDM.. Here are some that I know of... 8.5 wide rear wheels Bose stereo 5 Bose speakers, amps and covers 4 way electric passenger seat Electronic suspension Mirror defroster Illuminated key hole in door handles Leather interior, various colour options MPH instrument cluster European Z32's have headlight washers mounted on front bar, activated by pushing headlight switch inwards. JDM had electric folding mirrors.
USDM TT Only available in 2+0 JDM TT available in 2+2 & 2+0 JDM 180km/h Speed0 & Speed Limited to 180 JDM Z32's are lighter as Inner bumper is made from fibreglass rather than USDM steel, no EGR on Z32 built pre 1994, smaller catalytic converter etc. Possibly different body styling? Number plate opening, front bar? Indicator colour - but cannot confirm...
Just a few differences from memory: JDM cars got the electric passenger seat added in mid-late 1992. JDM cars also had leather as an option the same as USDM cars. 89-91 2+2 JDM cars had 2 point lap belts fitted in the rear. 89-91 JDM cars had no side intrusion bars fitted in the doors (as such most should have had these retrofitted upon being imported to Australia, often done very poorly). JDM cars had a catalytic converter over-temperature sensor fitted. JDM cars had a different door-mounted seatbelt assembly compared to USDM cars. JDM cars were designed to be operated like a normal seat belt, while USDM was intended to be connected all the time to ensure the seatbelt is worn by the occupant. (Search Youtube for automatic seatbelt videos on 90's Nissan cars to get an idea of what they were trying to achieve). JDM cars had side reflectors fitted in the rear bumper where USDM cars had illuminated rear markers. JDM cars had a hinged number plate bracket while USDM cars mounted directly to the rear bumper. USDM cars had an aluminium front crash bar with shock absorbers mounted in the chassis rails to meet 5MPH crash regulations in the states while all other cars had FRP crash bars. USDM cars had no side indicators fitted in the front guards where most other markets did. USDM twin turbo cars had pre-cats fitted in the exhaust. Early USDM cars had manual climate control (auto climate was possibly an option). Believe this was phased out in later cars. Canadian cars were wired with daytime running lights achieved by having the high beam powered on ignition with lower voltage (6 or 9v from memory) to meet local laws.
Oh really? That'll be my bad then. Should've known better as I've seen the EGR system on my 1990 TT too. I saw the info on Wikipedia and went off that without giving it a second thought.
Yeah that’s definitely not right early series JDM cars have EGR and AIV. You can’t trust everything you read on those American sites - most of them think that production was limited to 1990-1996 lol
Im very confident the system did get removed from factory z32s in mid 1995. Ive personally checked several members 95+ models most bone stock at the time and there was definately no sign of an egr valve at the back of the engine and no sign of the egr pipes that connect to the plenum
Nissan FAST confirms that for JDM models the AIV was removed 8.1992 and EGR removed 10.1994. North American models retained the EGR. European models retained both.
Chassis number is GCZ32-501058, I'm not sure if that means build number 501 or 058. Model KRGZ32JASBHE7
I'm thinking it's #58 2 seater or 4 seat? T-Top or slick? Auto or manual? Colour? Hopefully someone can confirm.
Wikipedia is a great resource but we've all been caught out with occasional bad info from it, especially when it comes to cars. I still use it as a starting point for most things but not so much for cars
