    5K1TZX Its all never ending....

Just recently my headlights have been playing up. When I turn them on to the normal low beams on the knob, all its doing is shooting its High beams so in effect the indicator/high beam arm is rendered useless. How do I get this working proply again as I dont wanna get booked driving around in highbeams everywhere!.

    Cheers.

    BigCol That's what she said...

    Probably the common fuse issue

Have a look here for a tech article that may help, or alternatively look HERE to browse the technical section.

Well it's either the fuses or the switch. I'd still be replacing all the 10A fuses in the drivers footwell.

hey i got high beem issues too lol

when i push in or pull on the indicator lever to activate the high beems nothing happens, they dont come on.

is that a fuse issue also or somthing else??

ive checked all the fuses in the footwell, all seems to be fine.. guessing its the switch itself ??

I had this problem when I first got my car. Being the type who needs to try to fix things before resorting to replacement I pulled my combination switch apart and discovered some of the brass fingers in the switch had been slightly bent which I bent back into shape and have not had a problem since.

A warning though, this job is not for the faint of heart, you need to dissassemble the switch itself which requires a lot of careful leverage with screwdrivers so that you dont break the casing and so that it does not fly apart as there are a few springs and bits in there that will fall out once the case separates, so have a good look at how everything is positioned before pulling it all apart. After that its simply using a multimeter or a light probe to test the switch till the fingers are in the right position again. (I seem to remember that on mine the fingers were not loosing contact in the centre position but if the fingers were bent out too much they wouldnt allow the flasher to function)

    AndyMac Better than you

More than likely it's the contacts at the end of the stalk.
