Auto Speedo sensor gear to manual

Hi the new z I brought was a manual so it has a manual diff in it still I want to keep it in but I want to put a auto box in as my parts car has a auto in it so my question is will the speedo sensor gear off a manual tt fit on to a auto speedo sensor so I get the right speed at the speedo on the dash ? Has anyone done this I have done it before but was with a bluebird trx s2 lol if not dose anyone one know wot I have to do to get it to read the right speed with the manual diff hooked up to the auto thank u

 

Manual and auto speed sensors aren't interchangeable but the diff will be the same if both cars are TT, and you probably don't want the softer NA auto box behind a TT.

 

Hi mate they are both tt the manual diff are a different ratios than to a auto iv always been lead to believe ?
I new the hole sensor it’s self is different I want to know if the plastic gear on the end is interchangeable?

 

In many cars they use a different diff based on gearbox but the Z32 only has two diffs, NA 4.11 and TT 3.69. You'll be fine with the sensor/gear fitted to the auto.

Re: Speed sensors.
There are 2 speed sensors fitted to TT transmissions, auto part #25911-40P11 & manual part #25911-40P10.
The auto gear part #32743-35F18 & the manual part #32743-30P18.
As mentioned the diffs are the same between auto's & manuals, which can be verified on the VIN plates.

I did the reverse (auto to manual swap). MRC at Castle Hill put in a calibration speed changer unit as I have a different final drive ratio (Leader Gears) and larger size wheels and low profile tires - did not need a speedo gear change. MRC did a dyno adjustment for the 300 kph speedo I have - within 1% so no issues. Might be worth contacting MRC if interested (Contact is Mark (02) 9634 5399 or mrcdyno@iinet.net.au)
