https://www.carthrottle.com/post/nissan-is-restarting-official-production-of-skyline-spares/ Good on Nissan, far too many parts have become NLA
Come on...zed owners are too tight to buy genuine factory...they didn't do it when it was available, so why do you think they'll do it now when it's twice the price?
ssssshhhhhh truth speaker. This is the internet. No room for that kind of talk here Sadly though you may be right as many recently new Z32 owners may have paid as little as $6K or less for the car, so they may fall over when they begin looking into the price of parts from Nissan. Well.......especially if you order them through Nissan Australia who will add on a lovely tax.....erm I mean local RRP. But for those who purchased thier cars near new, and kept them, that way, this is great news. And potentially for future investors who see beinifit in returning mildly molested examples back to stock, or nursing dead ones back to life. Are there ANY 300ZX's in Australia still running the original engine? Or have they all been swapped? :rolleyes2:
Yes, I hear you but I wouldn't be the only one who's spent $30kUS with Coz alone and then gone searching for someone else to supply the parts that he 'reckoned' were no longer available :zlove: Once all the crap Z's have been parted out & crushed, like all the other old but desirable car models, there will be plenty of enthusiasts willing to spend good money on their Z32's. Nissan is probably just planning to do large, one-off production runs to restock parts that there's still demand for - the LH windscreen demister strip that's been NLA for 4+years already is just one example. Thankfully there's obviously still a couple of non gender-confused employees still at Nissan who realize that 20yrs from now, no one is going to bother restoring a Nissan Leaf. So, might as well offer some support to those willing to keep older Nissan models alive.
Yes, Porsche has done extremely well out of the "porsche classic" line, even offering inhouse restoration services. Very different market, but yes I can see what Nissan are doing, and if I was in their shoes, my parts resurgence would be with the 240z era, as these have appreciated a little, and now those butchered examples will start to migrate back to showroom to command the highest dollar, and people will spend on parts for this cause. Same with the R32, then they'll scope out other areas of demand. I'll put my money down that the Z32 won't be one of catalogues for re-production for quite some time, aside from common parts like service kits, etc, if they've even stopped producing those.
Fair enough, thankfully doesn't bother me either way as I'm at the point where I managed to buy that much new stuff for the ones I'm keeping that I'm like - geez, if I actually order these last 5 bits I'm interested in, maybe I have gone too far Lol  ...somehow I've ended up with two brand new infill panels that I don't even need - but hey, I maybe I'll need them one day
"The new venture, which will be part of the company?s motorsport division, Nismo, will open its accounts by making spares for the R32 Skyline GT-R, but other models will be covered as well as time goes on. We expect that to include the R33 and R34, plus the various generations of Fairlady Z, the best-known of which was otherwise known as the 300ZX." All speculation of course, as all journalism seems to be.
Just Like RARE SPARES but from the factory - bring it on On a reality check - where do you guys see cars in 20 years 50 years 100 years I put this question to my friend at work who has several old Austins Who in your family will take them on when your gone and he said no one The younger generation dont have the enthusiasm that 60 years olds have for cars Petrol will run out eventually so what use will the cars be to them then Yes in museums but the value will be less Teenagers today are all about electronic technology and clothing Just saying
You'll always be able to get petrol or a suitable alternative. Might be expensive but it will be available. They are saying that pre-war cars will lose a lot of value once their current owners kick the bucket and their kids and grandkids won't have a lot of interest in 90 year old cars that are difficult to drive and run. Most will end up on the market flooding it. It will be interesting...The type 31 Bugatti's and Silver Ghost Rolls' will always have demand but a lot of the other stuff probably won't. There seems to be plenty of younger people interested in cars - doesn't mean they want a Z32 from 25 years ago. Same as I didn't want a 280ZX when I was 19!
I do Still have my original 1993 TT motor in my zed. Never rebuilt and still running fine. At some point it will need a rebuild, and when the times comes, I will happily do it
Me me me me... I buy genuine all the time Unless its an aftermarket part, like a Koyo radiator or something like that. But this is great news regarding parts availability for an ageing Z32.
I haven't spent quite that much at Coz but my total Us parts purchases are: At CZP since 24/5/2012 34 orders Total at CZP USD $14,696.67 At Z1 since 11/2/2012 21 orders for 103 parts Total at Z1 USD $14,306.67 Specialty Z 18/10/2013 USD $963.60 So my total US purchases are USD $29,966.94 (That doesn't include the 300km/h speedo I bought from Canada) I've also bought well over $3,275 in parts (excluding labour) from UAS Also bought hundreds in parts from Z Centre of Great Britain. Despite all that thanks to badly needing a respray my car would still probably only sell for around 6K. Which doesn't worry me as I will never sell even if I live to 100. Parts I would buy if they were available new (and if I had any money left) are new headliner and new door cards and new dash (not that any of them are in that bad shape) - I will probably end up buying alcantara trim to cover them form interior innovations. I always buy OEM if it is available unless I am upgrading performance. E.g. spent $2,400 on RPS twin plate Carbon Carbon clutch for example also bought Nistune, Specailty Z dumps, 3" exhaust, Z1 BA SMICs etc but unless I am upgrading I go OEM. If Nissan want my money they will never get it from selling me a new car only buy selling me Z parts.
