Well decided to do spruce up the engine bay a bit more, bought a set of old cam covers awhile back. Sent them off to Concept Customs in Maroochydore for a touch up, and this is the end result .
Michael did a great job, removed all the nicks and scratches, smoothed off all the burrs , and then worked his magic.
Have just done exactly this with two motors I'm building at the moment. Silver like yours on the 96TT motor and hi temp black with cut outs for cam wheels on the 90TT engine.
Yeah thanks guys, pity he couldn't do the accordion pipes, so guess i'll look at getting either polished metal ones made up or try and buy new ones cheap.
durability once you get your greasy hands on the, the get road dust/grime gets on them how easy to clean them? will the paint fade/peal/chip quickly? are they clear coated?
G'day Glenn, they are painted in the same paint as my rocker covers and they are not showing any signs of cracking, peeling etc, and with the usual gentle cleaning they have stayed shiny. So hopefully the cam covers will do the same, Michael who does this work, does a lot of good prep work and specializes in engine/parts painting .
Cheers Toby, i picked them up yesterday from Michael and they look even better than the pics. Got more to add to the engine bay, like hard pipes powder coated to match the plenum .
