Hi All, As above was wondering what you all pay for a year, Just got mine $735 for a year :bash: Plus my insurance is $700 a year which I think isn't to bad Cheers Dazza
just got my renewal, very similar if not the same (not in front of me right now) welcome to the brave new world, where the "priveledge" of driving on the roads we pay to have built and maintaned, with the cars we payed transfer tax on to have the right to own, and driven on the fuel we are taxed on to put in our cars, is getting more and more expensive. And all of this paid for with money that we when we earn, we are already taxed. A tax on a tax on a tax on a tax. F&CK YOU government, its really taking the p!ss now..............
Yeah its getting to be an absolute joke. missus commodore another 700 plus then got the landrover to come!!! going have to sell the commodore LMAO!!
$75 / year - 45 day limited use club permit $120 / year - full comp insured with RACV for $18,000. Used to pay around $120 / year for 90 days but after 2 years of logging driving days, I've only managed 50 in the 1st year and 40 in the 2nd year.
Living in places where they tax almost nothing, no income tax, 12.5% GST, little fuel excise, no 3rd party insurance and certainly no stamp duty with a net result of shit roads, shit health care, shit education, no welfare and no structured national development, I certainly appreciate coming home to what realistically is for a small nation such as Australia, very good infrastructure, as much as we all bitch and moan. It costs money, and while I do not look forward to paying tax again, I won't begrudge it. I will be more upset about earning the Aussie peso again... Also, edit, stop your bitching, I'm paying all this and comp insurance on 3 cars I drive 3 times a year if I'm lucky. At least you get some mileage out of it...
In QLD for an NA it's $846.10 if paid on time or $903.70 if your late. Insurance varies on age, location, parking arrangements ( in secure garage, carport, on street ) .
What country are you speaking of? And yes, while I do hate the tax, we do get something for it. It's when you factor in the politician pensions etc that I get really upset......
Not to mention the fact that a coffee costs $5 A Friggin pint $12 and a pub counter meal lucky to get one under $20 Don't get me started on bloody parking I tell ya :bash:
Rego costs are pretty fixed, short of going club reg it's pretty expensive. Insurance though there's plenty to save, all of you on full reg that don't daily your Zeds should have them on a classic/vintage policy. Min age of car is 15years (so you'd be getting close too Andy). Nrma & Racv both offer them, I'm sure there's others too. Can't be your only car, honesty system with Km's / times driven a month, etc. I have full comp insurance with a good agreed value & $300 excess, my premium is sub $300... That's close to an $800 saving on what Shannon's was charging me. Pick up the phone guys.
I'm doing a stint in Vanuatu at the moment. I agree that there is a % of fiscal mismanagement in the Australian system, in no way was I was championing it as perfect. The tax system is draconian in a lot of ways and far too complicated. I'm really all for scrapping all personal taxes and going with a 20-25% GST on everything. User pays. The public would never go for it, but I dream of my little utopian society. And Coffee costs me about US$4...
That was the original concept for taxes like GST and VAT when they were first released - even NZ was going to go that way, until the government realised that they could make more money by leaving personal taxes in place. - that is the rich can make more money and pay less tax this way, and the rest can pay through the nose
Bit of topic but... Work vise I spent 3 months in Port Vila and around the Vanuatu and I know exactly what you referring in your earlier post. However if you find your self in Espiritu Santo while you are there, go to the Champagne Beach - One of the best beaches that I have seen, and to me it was well worth the effort of getting there.
Yeah, I know Champagne beach. Done 3 years is PNG, a year and a bit in Vanuatu, another year to go by the time my sanity snaps and I come home, or the AUD/USD tanks further and I can't justify not earning the USD for a little longer and pull out another 2 years on top of that. Then I'll be one of those creepy single 40 year olds driving a lamborghini and hitting on 20 year old gold diggers...
3 years in PNG mate you must have novel to write up Been there too, done the 3 months tour around PNG as well and would much rather spent that time in Vanuatu in stead Yeah I know that money is good but lifestyle there 24/7 in constant pressure and most likely no time off for weekends, is not fun... But f***K I miss D.U.I. and no one to police such a thing However I don't miss all those potholes...
Yep one thing they do great is pot holes. As much as I love Vanuatu is does tend to give you an idea of what Australia would be like if we didnt pay so much tax. Was in Noumea a couple of weeks ago and I will never complain about prices of things again. Works out to almost $20 Australian for a beer  But a totaly different place to Vanuatu and Fiji and because of the cost no back packers
