Cara's speedo works sometimes, but mostly not.

Had it on the hoist yesterday to check the speed sensor. Looked fine, cleaned terminals and reinstalled. Speedo still not working as it should.

Swapped it for another, still not working.

However ECUtalk always shows speed, so I am thinking the issue is somewhere else.

Recommendations on what to check next?

    Cheers,
    Mike

well if your sensor is showing the speed from the ecu, it must be the cluster?

Try driving a little faster, you may get over 0km/hr one day :p

    SMACKDOWN!

But yeh, id say the cluster is stuffed. Got a working unit you can swap it with?

Either cluster or signal wire from ECU to cluster

Often it is due to dry solder joints behind speedometer. I bet that's the issue.

Solders. I had the same problem. Occasionally the speedo would stop working then just kick back in. Had the whole cluster resoldered at Lionel Otto Instruments in Salisbury, cost me a bit but it worked like new from that day on.
