Hi guys It seems time to change my clutch. Any recommendations for a clutch for a stock Twin Turbo running 13psi and chipped ECU? I would prefer to buy local to Brisbane but if the savings our good I will go overseas/coz etc. If anyone know any suppliers in Brisbane that would be great. There just seems to be so many combinations and I just want similar pedal feel and something that will take the extra horsepower over stock. Cheers Chris
Exedy Heavy Duty clutch is a popular choice; 'Sports Tuff Heavy Duty; Part: Part # NSK-7050HD Another is F1 Clutches, Stage 2 or 3 available on ebay
I've had good experiances with heavy duty exedy organics. Smooth and easy to drive with acceptable pedal weight.
Thanks for the advice guys, just waiting on some prices from Direct Clutches for an Exedy HD clutch. Anyone have a flywheel for sale? Wouldn't mind getting one machined and sorted so the car doesn't have to be off the road very long. Cheers Chris
Go an F1 stage 2 clutch - I've used a puck before and glazed it pretty quickly in traffic on my morning commute. They are not forgiving to stop start slipping. Stage 2 for me has been pretty much perfect so far and have been very happy with 17psi of boost with all the bolt ons. Only niggling issue is smell after launching or driving conditions, but no detectable slip.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I might go for an Exedy clutch. Just have to figure out the best way to get a flywheel organised so I can so the hole job done in one day. What I can't understand is some of the brand Clutch kits from the USA are only $400 including flywheel. That seems incredible cheap. Could almost do that once a year lol. What's the difference between those and Exedy type clutches? Or is that just how much they cost? While we are here are there any other things that I should change while doing the clutch? I am actually swapping the gearbox at the same time as my input shaft bearing is knackered. So far Clutch Thrust bearing Slave cylinder Rear main seal Anything else? Cheers Chris
Upgrade your clutch pivot ball and fork. Stock pivots are made from lower grade steel and can snap, while stock forks tend to flex and can break unexpectedly when you start to up the clamp force.
I had one of these in my Blue TT - amazing clutch, you would never think it was a performance clutch till you put the boot in! https://www.centerforce.com/products/dual-friction-series
Yeah I run the JWT HD Street clutch (organic), would say it is much better than the EXEDY ceramic/metallic puk clutch i ran beforehand. MUCH more user friendly & has never slipped under full load. http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=127&Car_Type=300&UID=20130509173407123.211.57.90
