Hi guys, Just wondering what the best way to fix the mounting points for the radio bezel. It seems the previous owner was not to worried about removing the screws when he wanted to change the radio and now all the mounting points for the radio bezel are broken. Can you change out the part or is it part of the whole dash? Also the mounts on the back of the instrument cluster are also broken Any idea's as the rattling is getting a little annoying. Cheers Chris
this pretty common, 20 year old plastic just breaks. you can try repairing it, but for the stereo facia people often buy replacements. the dash itself, youll just have to try and bodge something up or live with it.
IMO you can repair but you need to take dash out to do it properly so you may as well change dash unfortunately. You can fix it better than stock but probably need to take it out to fix. With shagged dash cut out parts you want. Superglue them on to yours. When dry pour polyurethane or something into behind dash. Voila. Better than stock. Otherwise whilst on car just glue on the plastic you want. Just you cannot pour glue into behind it. Get the dooooooooooooooorift???:br::br::br:
If everyone start hassling Chris (ezzupturbo) he might make up a batch of metal brackets to replace the broken old plastic piece... Seriously... Start hassling him SORRY CHRIS
I patched the broken bits with fibreglass. Then cut the holes again with a dremel. It worked OK but you can't get access everywhere without taking the dash out.
Just use ferophryne. It's a 2 part epoxy that plumbers use and you can make/repair just about anything. Selleys make a similiar product you can buy at hardware stores in a stick.
I have 3 dash boards now. The first from 1990 JDM is pretty shagged. I am prepared to cut this up and post for cost of P&H. Let me know if you want me to post photos. I think all of the center panel mounts are there except beam between vents and double din. Regards
I'm not sure look at this picture...I would take the bezel off and look and see what is broken under there, to see if you can fabricate or rig it.... becaue in this picture it looks like you need to change the whole dash cover....If it is just the bezel you can simply change the bezel but you need to look for yourself to see what is wrong. You maybe able to just put some new metal clips and use a little super glue to fix it... PS 1st post here on this forum. Hello from Washington DC/US
Gidday Mate... welcome! Thanks for offering that pic... and a very nice 1st post it is!! lol How's the Zed scene over there?
