its alive!!!!!!!!!!!! and omg the cams make this thing sound like a beast. need to fix a few minor boost leaks and then i can drive her home for the first time...... i think a video tomorrow is due
What for? Standard rail you are feeding six 370 injectors with a single -5 (aka 5/16" aka 8mm) port. I can't see how a standard barb fitting (aka -5) would be insufficient to supply three 740 injectors....
Cam specs are 280 duration, 9.5mm lift with a solid profile. At idle the car sounds a bit between a Torana and a Zed and higher revs just sounds awesome. Got a couple lil electrical gremlins to get sorted and strangely enough a leaking brand new Nissan rear main seal to replace and then it will be time for a trip to the dyno. Not everything but the motor has .5mm oversize supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters and Tomei shims 280 duration, 9.5 lift, solid profile cams 1mm oversize wiseco pistons Eagle H beam conrods Clevite bearings Nissan gaskets with viton stem seals Block bored and honed with torque plates Block decked 2 thou Heads surfaced 4 thou 5 angle valve seats with the ports enlarged Main water gallery deburred Block and all parts from sump to plenum tanked and cleaned Crank counter weight locktighted, torqued and welded Engine balanced All new hoses and hose clamps used New power steering hose New engine mounts Earls oil cooler Aftermarket radiator Front mount intercooler PCV deleted with catch can EGR deleted AIV deleted Carbon canister deleted Will be running nistune with a dyno tune shortly I'm sure there is more, that's just what I can remember at the moment.
That is awesome !!! Love that write up And those are some nice big nasty cams I only have JWT400+ With all that head work its a shame about the turbo choice ( for now) but should still be seeing 250rwkw area pretty comfortbly I'd hope
Ill post up pics of the heads and block ect during and after machining as soon as I work out how to get the pics off my phone.
!update! so had the zed towed home today from the doctors aka wildzx, didn't want to take any chances driving it as a few electrical issues have surfaced. ok so the problems are: - efi loom - huge cams not allowing vacuum - pcv delete causing pressure and forcing oil out the rear main seal. - trans playing up and what is needed to fix these issues: - new efi loom (arrived today from Yury @ wiringspecialties.com) - electric vacuum pump - pcv valve reinstalled or some way to release crank pressure????? - new trans as soon as funds allow me after all these are sorted then its time for a dyno tune and see some results to make me smile the na to tt conversion isnt an easy one and ill say this now for anyone planing this, if your funds are tight just play it safe and stay na or buy tt complete. it is fun and stressful all at once but hey this is my baby so it will all payout in the end. ill keep everyone updated with progress and ill snap some new pics for you guys soon ........ drive safe every1 sam out
update (with PICS)!! how she looked after the engine install... then i ripped it apart . so plenum came off and the cam covers where removed for the PCV reroute. fitted 2 barb hose fittings to both intake covers. while i was there i went from black to red to brighten up the engine . black or red hmmmmmmmm. got a good look at the new cams aswell ok so next im just waiting on the injectors then its plenum back on and efi harness pluged in to start her up to see if some problems have been fixed.
If you were closer I'd gladly lend a hand =D Can't wait to see this up and running at 100% or to see what it can produce!!
update 25/3/13 engine is back together and starts first turn. -injectors all new orings and caps -relocated pcv from exhaust to intake cams -brand new RHD efi harness in short all of this have stoped most of my problems such as - pressurised engine forcing oil out the rear main - misfiring on cylender 6 - rough idle - rough revving (if that is a real thing) the engine sounds very nice now with allot more smoother revving than before, im certain a little advanced timing will help. . so im down to the finale straight of the problems just 1 left the AUTO transmission oh god this transmission. so ill try to explain, ill take off in D, the revs climb and keep climbing without dropping one bit and wont go into the autos 2nd part of the gears. it just stays in its first ratio, may be fixed with a trans service so next week ill make a booking. . all in all this car will be driving on the road within 2 weeks but ill have to miss the Nissan nats at Phillip island due to no time
ok time i stop being a BUM and get off my arse to really finish this thing. so sick of looking at it and wondering what power she could make when its done, first thing tomorrow i'll book it in for the trans service and organise some1 to set all my idle and timing right so she is driveable. after that its nistune and power time for her first tune at chequered tuning. if i dont set a deadline it will never be done so 3 weeks from now seem fair to myself and the car. keep pushing me guys to get it done like some1 at the gym yelling last rep just a quick recap of the finale list: -book in trans service. -maybe hold tech day to fine-tune the idle and timing. if so i'll use my brothers mechanic shop for the weekend in clayton. -buy tailshaft spacers/washers. -buy nistune. -book in chequered tuning dyno tune. COMPLETE
just waiting on some parts and a basic tune to keep its idle smooth. basicly i had it on the hoist to see whats going on and what needs to be fixed. oil leaking from passenger vct solenoid. tailshaft center bearing rubber is chewed up. pod filter does not clear FMIC. other than that it can be driven but not anywhere near its full potential. i had it out last night and it was pulling very hard :br: so with my tax return coming in this week that should fund getting all the jobs done for the zed.
Got all the parts mainly from other members here, all is done except tailshaft and tune. Getting to a point where I'm about to garage it for another year. I'm over working on cars so this will be my last big job haha
